s1mple, The GOAT of CS, Returns With Team Falcons

As a long-time follower of CS2 esports, I can hardly contain my excitement! The return of s1mple to Team Falcons is like a breath of fresh air after a long, dry spell. I’ve been waiting for this moment since he hinted at his possible comeback back in July 2024.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but notice the impressive performance of Team Falcons in high-profile Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports tournaments. However, their recent string of losses has sparked five-time Major Championship coach Danny “zonic” Sørensen to express a need for change, as he pointed out in a post-match interview at BLAST Fall Final 2024.

Despite whispers about Team Falcons’ strategies circulating, they certainly took everyone by surprise when they made the long-awaited announcement: the legendary Counter-Strike player is making a comeback!

Indeed, the Ukrainian AWPer, Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyljev, is making his return to competitive play after an extended absence of about a year. His last appearance was in October 2024, but he’ll be back on the server with Team Falcons shortly. Consequently, Spanish AWPer Alvaro “SunPayus” Garcia has been temporarily moved to the bench. However, it’s worth mentioning that s1mple is currently on a three-month loan from NAVI and hasn’t officially joined Team Falcons yet.

The team, Falcons, shared the eagerly anticipated update on their social platforms, including a photo featuring s1mple with a goat.

The story of greatness returns: S1mple is joining us for a three-month loan! ⚡️🦅 Time to reach new heights 🦅⚡️ #FalconsAreHere

In a short but sweet post on X, s1mple said:

It’s time for me to return to LAN, which has been my primary objective since the start – to participate in the Shanghai Major! I’m thrilled that we’ll have formal matches prior to making any necessary adjustments and moving on to the main tournament of this year!

In a gracious gesture, s1mple expressed gratitude towards both Team Falcons and NAVI for the chance they gave him, and vowed to avoid letting down his supporters. He also hinted at a possible comeback around July 2024.

After the expiration of the three-month period, it’s uncertain what lies ahead for s1mple, as the GOAT has yet to disclose any future plans. Nevertheless, we can confirm that s1mple will participate in the European RMR for the Perfect World Shanghai Major!
