RyanCan’tCook Unveils Monster Hunter Wilds Food Challenge Secrets

As a dedicated admirer of Ryan Alexander, famously known as ‘Ryan Can’t Cook,’ I was thrilled to see him whip up some tantalizing dishes inspired by Monster Hunter World’s launch party. Curious to learn more about his culinary preferences, the journey that led him into content creation, and his future endeavors, I seized the opportunity to grill him with a few questions. Here are the juicy details!

Contrary to what Ryan’s social media handle ‘Ryan Can’t Cook’ suggests, it’s quite clear that he has a remarkable culinary skills, as well as an impressive knack for creating engaging videos.

With his lively, comical, and chaotic video content, it’s no wonder that he garnered a collective following of four million fans on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. Thus, it’s easy to understand why Capcom chose him as their ideal candidate to bring the cuisine from Monster Hunter Wilds to life.

As a gamer, I was fortunate enough to get an early peek at this game, and let me tell you, it left me both astonished and ravenous by the end of it! It’s no secret that Ryan has crafted a stunningly accurate representation of the meals our character and their Palico shared during breaks from Hunts. The garlic naan cheese pull alone is something to behold!

For Ryan, the hardest aspect of recreating this culinary masterpiece was reducing the size of the food item, as it seems so large in the game.

He mentioned that certain items within the game are incredibly large, making it difficult to create lifelike replicas. Additionally, he discovered that he had significantly underestimated the quantity of cheese needed for the cheesy naan to mimic the game’s cheese pull, which required multiple attempts to perfect.

We eagerly anticipated savoring that delightful naan bread, and it happened to be Ryan’s preferred choice as well. Interestingly enough, he claims that the culinary delights depicted in the Monster Hunter video game series are among the most mouthwatering visual feasts he’s encountered while gaming.

He confessed that the naan smothered in cheese was incredibly appealing to him. “I have a fondness for cheese, and it certainly caught my eye. Among all video games, the kebabs from Monster Hunter series always seem incredibly appetizing when I see them – each bite looks incredibly satisfying.

Indeed, turning dishes from video games into real-world recipes can indeed present challenges — something Ryan is well aware of. In fact, as Ryan himself recounts, he devoted a total of two months to crafting the perfect omelette, an endeavor that almost mirrored his subsequent efforts to master the Thai Tea Basque Cheesecake for the party.

He reminisced about spending approximately two months experimenting with various techniques for cooking eggs (primarily French omelets), using every type of pan available to him. While not the most extraordinary food, he admitted that this endeavor took up nearly two months of his life. He was deeply involved in researching and preparing each kind of egg until he mastered each method, regardless of the conditions. Normally, he’d go through an entire carton daily. At this point, he confesses he’s quite tired of eggs.

Just like perfecting eggs, I diligently prepared Basque cheesecake daily for approximately two weeks until achieving perfection. It’s one of those dishes with numerous factors that can influence its outcome, making it a bit tricky. It happens to be my absolute favorite dish on the menu. In contrast, chicken kebabs are much simpler; I find them relatively difficult to botch, especially when they’re coated generously in garlic parsley.

From grandma’s kitchen to social media star

It might seem like Ryan has innately been gifted in cooking based on his latest videos, but most likely, it’s due to an early start and an exceptional mentor. In fact, his passion for cooking was ignited at a young age by his grandmother, who encouraged him to learn baking when he was only four years old after constantly pestering her for lessons.

Ryan shared that he was fascinated by his grandma preparing pastries in the kitchen and wanted to learn from her. However, she initially refused, saying he was too young and asked him to leave. Despite this, Ryan persisted until she agreed to teach him once, under the condition that if he made a mistake, he wouldn’t be allowed back in the kitchen again.

I focused intently, and she allowed me to continue assisting because I did well. I was only four at the time, but that experience sparked my passion for cooking. Around 2019-2020, I began refining my skills and started preparing meals at home that I desired, also practicing knife skills and more. Cooking has always been therapeutic for me, offering a brief escape from reality.

During the global health crisis from 2020 to 2021, Ryan transformed his passion for cooking into digital content. He used his Instagram page, initially intended as a personal journal of his cooking journey and an inspiration for others to start cooking, which unexpectedly grew into his main profession. This unexpected career shift led to partnerships with renowned figures such as rapper bbno$ and even the famous chef Gordon Ramsay.

He acknowledged that he considers himself incredibly fortunate for the chances that have come his way. It’s hard for him to understand how it happens, but somehow things seem to fit together perfectly as they should. Each collaboration I undertake is my favorite at the moment I create it. I don’t have a particular favorite, as I find them all enjoyable to work on.

Given the choice, I’d pick BBNO$ as my preferred collaborator. I’ve admired him for years, and it makes me proud to consider him a close friend. Our creative approaches are quite chaotic, but they complement each other beautifully, resulting in videos that seem effortlessly successful.

From hereon, I’m eagerly anticipating more from Ryan’s journey. He’s planning to dive into creating longer YouTube videos, which is an exciting prospect for me! Plus, there might be a hint of streaming adventures on the horizon – a side-quest, if you will – given his passion for gaming. I can hardly wait!

It’s his love for gaming and his enthusiasm for cooking that have gotten him this far, and there’s only more success ahead. Don’t forget to take a look at TopMob’s review of Monster Hunter Wilds before its official release on February 28.
