Ryan Reynolds’ X-Force movie may team Deadpool with Wolverine, Storm, and Cable!

Is it likely that we’ll see Deadpool 4? Given that the collaboration between Deadpool and Wolverine garnered tremendous critical acclaim and raked in over $1.3 billion last year, one might expect Marvel Studios to approve another film without delay. However, it seems that the Merc with a Mouth could be venturing off on a different path, as it’s been suggested that Ryan Reynolds is contemplating ideas for an upcoming Marvel production featuring his character alongside some of the X-Men. This setup strongly resembles an X-Force film, and there are now whispers about the introduction of new and beloved characters who may join Wade Wilson in this potential movie.

For now, consider this news with some skepticism, but it sounds plausible given the stellar cast involved. As per insider @MyTimeToShineHello (via ComicBookMovie), Deadpool might reunite with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Josh Brolin’s Cable in an upcoming project. Furthermore, this team could also include Storm from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, representing a fresh portrayal of the weather-controlling mutant instead of Halle Berry or Alexandra Shipp returning to the role.

In the comics, Storm isn’t directly associated with X-Force, but I find it appealing to incorporate her into a potential film adaptation. Although Halle Berry and Anna Paquin delivered great performances as Ororo Munroe in the Fox X-Men series, I felt their portrayals didn’t fully capture the essence of the character. Here’s hoping that the MCU version will do justice to Storm, especially considering my anticipation for her reacting to Deadpool’s antics and how her presence could pave the way for a long-desired X-Men reboot movie.

Previously, we’ve enjoyed watching Deadpool give Cable and Wolverine a hard time in movies, so any opportunity to see more of this dynamic is exciting. As Deadpool, Cable, and Wolverine were all part of X-Force in the comics, it seems plausible that this film could draw inspiration from that tough-as-nails superhero team. Having three out of four original members as canon characters makes for a solid representation. Additionally, there have been instances where Wolverine and Cable clashed in the comic books and other media, so I’d be thrilled to see Hugh Jackman and Josh Brolin bring that rivalry to life on screen too.

It’s uncertain if this project will ultimately become a reality. If Marvel Studios approves it, Ryan Reynolds is currently involved in another project – the Paramount comedy film “Boy Band” – which brings him together with Jackman and their previous director Shawn Levy. Once he completes that, he plans to focus on other writing projects for the rest of 2025. As a result, it may be quite some time before we see this project on the big screen.

It’s been announced that several X-Men characters will reappear in the MCU, with Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit all slated for Avengers: Doomsday, now scheduled for release on December 18, 2026.
