Ryan Reynolds Reveals Shocking Marvel Death That Almost Happened in Deadpool & Wolverine!

Ryan Reynold’s unorthodox, provocative portrayal of Wade Wilson made a big splash in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, contributing to the Multiverse Saga with his unique style. Interestingly enough, Reynolds himself has shared that Deadpool came close to being silenced permanently in the superhero movie blockbuster.

On “The Box Office” podcast, Ryan Reynolds disclosed that during the development of the film, Marvel Entertainment had given serious thought to killing off Wade Wilson (Deadpool) in the joint movie with Wolverine. Reynolds stated, “There was always a plan to kill Deadpool in the final installment.” He added that he, along with editors Shane Reid, Dean Zimmerman, and director Shawn Levy, spent approximately 45 days meticulously reworking the third act of the film.

Initially, the decision to incorporate “Like a Prayer” altered the film’s mood, ultimately resulting in the abandonment of the concept. “I’ve been a fan of using pre-existing songs, but I’m making an effort to appreciate the score more,” Reynolds explained. “Rob Simonsen was instrumental in helping us achieve this balance between score, pre-existing music, and various other elements that produced the desired effect we were striving for.

Following the innovative adjustments, Marvel seems keen on exploring a prolonged MCU journey for Deadpool beyond “Deadpool & Wolverine”. As Reynolds puts it, “It’s definitely appealing to imagine what more we could do with this character in the future. He’s like a game cheat code – he can say things that everyone else might be thinking but can’t, and he can get us out of tricky situations.

The Canadian actor expressed satisfaction with the final result, noting how Deadpool & Wolverine symbolized the shift from 20th Century Fox to Disney, marking a new chapter in his character’s journey. He shared that it was significant for them to have a farewell, recognizing the path that led them there – including the less successful films and those that succeeded.

Deadpool & Wolverine Introduced Wade Wilson in Style

As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can confidently say that the groundbreaking R-rated film, Deadpool & Wolverine, was nothing short of genius. It not only garnered critical acclaim but also became one of the highest-grossing superhero movies ever, raking in an impressive $1.338 billion worldwide. The latest Deadpool installment saw me team up with Wolverine to safeguard the Multiverse against the malevolent, time-altering intentions of Charles Xavier’s sister, Cassandra Nova, portrayed by Emma Corrin. What’s more, this film marked the entry of the mutant era in the MCU, introducing a host of X-Men characters such as Sabretooth (Tyler Mane), Pyro (Aaron Stanford) and Gambit (Channing Tatum).

Recently, Reynolds hinted at a fresh Deadpool undertaking, possibly continuing from the tale of Deadpool and Wolverine. If it comes to fruition, this could be a sequel to the highest-earning R-rated movie.

As a passionate cinephile, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the upcoming Avengers sequels, Doomsday and Secret Wars. Interestingly, Deadpool hasn’t officially been confirmed as part of the cast for these movies, but I can’t help but feel hopeful. Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, has hinted that he’d love to see his character continue in the Marvel Cinematic Universe if given the chance.
