Ryan Reynolds Met Madonna To Get Her Song In Deadpool And Wolverine

As a long-time gamer and avid movie buff, I can’t help but be intrigued by the unexpected collaboration between music icon Madonna and the Deadpool and Wolverine franchise. The news of Madonna allowing her iconic hit “Like a Prayer” to be used in the trailers for these movies was quite a surprise, as she is known for being selective about where her music is featured.

Music enthusiasts might have been taken aback upon hearing Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” in trailers for Deadpool and Wolverine. Generally, Madonna keeps a tight rein on the use of her music in films and TV shows. However, these two productions will be among the rare instances where her tunes are included. Recently, Shawn Levy, the director, and Ryan Reynolds have disclosed how they managed to persuade Madonna to grant them permission to use her song.

Reynolds and Levy shared the story of meeting Madonna on Andy Cohen’s radio show on SiriusXM. According to Reynolds, getting permission from Madonna to use her song wasn’t a simple task. It required a significant effort to ask for it and even more so to actually utilize it. So, we went to meet her in person and presented how the song would be integrated into our project, explaining the reason behind our choice.

Based on Reynolds’ account, Madonna wasn’t just fond of the particular scene, but she also provided a note which became part of the movie. The content of the note remained undisclosed by Reynolds, yet he and Levy commended Madonna for her involvement.

Reynolds remembered with admiration, “She played an excellent part in the rehearsal.” Upon observing her performance, she suggested, “You should try this,” and amazingly, her advice proved accurate.

Instead of “We literally went into a new recording session within 48 hours to do this note,” you could say “We quickly recorded this note in a new session just two days later.” And instead of “It made the sequence better,” you could say “Improving the sequence was the result.”

As an avid gamer and eager fan, I can’t contain my excitement any longer! The intriguing backstory behind that thrilling scene is about to unravel. Mark your calendars, fellow enthusiasts – Deadpool and Wolverine are set to grace our screens this coming Friday, July 26.
