“American Love Story” at FX has found its first cast member.
It’s been revealed through various sources that Sarah Pidgeon has been chosen for one of the main characters in the upcoming anthology show, which was initially unveiled in 2021. Previous reports had mentioned that the initial season would center around John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. In this series, Pidgeon will portray Bessette.
Reps for 20th Television and FX declined to comment.
Born and brought up in both New York and Connecticut, Bessette embarked on a short-lived modeling stint before ascending the corporate ladder at Calvin Klein, ultimately assuming the role of publicity director and managing high-profile clients for the brand based in New York City. She started dating Kennedy in 1994 and married him in 1996. Their relationship was under constant public spotlight, often making headlines in tabloids due to their regular media appearances.
Rachel Pidgeon gained popularity primarily through her leading role in the Amazon Prime Video series “The Wilds,” which was broadcast from 2020 to 2022 across two seasons. More recently, she has been featured on TV in the Hulu miniseries “Tiny Beautiful Things” alongside Kathryn Hahn. In cinema, she has appeared in both “The Friend” and “Lazarus,” and is set to appear in the fourth installment of the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” movie series.
She is repped by Gersh, Anonymous Content, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
The upcoming series titled ‘American Love Story’ is the latest addition to FX’s ‘American Story’ collection. Besides the ongoing anthology series ‘American Horror Story’ and its spin-off ‘American Horror Stories’, FX has previously broadcasted three seasons of ‘American Crime Story’, along with one season of ‘American Sports Story’. The latter premiered in 2024, delving into the life of Aaron Hernandez.
