Ryan Gosling confirms Project Hail Mary’s theatrical window has been extended

At CinemaCon, Amazon MGM Studios announced its future film projects. During the event, Mike Hopkins, the studio’s leader, revealed that the movie Project Hail Mary has earned over $525 million globally (according to IGN).

Ryan Gosling, along with the film’s directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, joined the celebration of the movie’s huge success. Gosling also announced that the film will stay in theaters longer, giving fans more opportunities to see it on the big screen (according to Cosmic Book News).

Honestly, it was so heartwarming to see the actor express his gratitude after the screening. He wasn’t just saying thank you – he really meant it! He thanked everyone for loving the film, and then started handing out flowers, which was a lovely touch. But the sweetest thing? He wrote a thank-you note to one woman in the audience, and it was passed around for everyone to see. It felt so personal and genuine – a really beautiful moment.

Hopkins also emphasized that Amazon MGM Studios is just starting to pursue major theatrical releases, saying to his team that their goal is to be a leader in the film industry. He previously told theater owners that the studio remains committed to releasing 15 movies in cinemas each year, as originally planned (according to Deadline).

The film is adapted from Andy Weir’s 2021 novel of the same title. It follows Dr. Ryland Grace, a teacher and biologist who wakes up with amnesia on a spaceship. He gradually remembers he’s on a vital space mission for the future of humanity. During the mission, he encounters and befriends an alien shaped like a rock, nicknamed Rocky. They soon discover they’re working towards similar goals and decide to team up.

The film was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, based on a script by Drew Goddard. Lord, Miller, and Dan Weir all produced the film, along with Ryan Gosling, Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, and Aditya Sood.
