As a dedicated cinephile looking back four years since the heart-wrenching fatal shooting incident involving cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, I’ve just recently witnessed the release of the trailer for the highly anticipated movie titled “Rust.” This film premiered at the CamerImage Film Festival in Poland last November and is set to hit theaters and on-demand platforms in May.

Interestingly enough, despite Alec Baldwin’s manslaughter trial ending in dismissal a year ago and his recent TLC reality show debut, the production team behind “Rust” have chosen this moment to unveil its first look. Remarkably, according to NBC News, the original producers won’t be profiting from the film. Instead, Halyna Hutchins’ husband Matthew will receive any profits generated from the movie. This unique pay structure was part of the settlement reached in the wrongful death lawsuit that Matthew filed.

In the preview, Alec Baldwin utters the term “reckon,” which undeniably sounds the most cowboyish. The storyline appears unclear as characters exchange significant glances. A young lad seems to be experiencing a challenging rite of passage in the wild west, and there are public executions depicted. A law enforcement officer states, “The only rule that prevails in this world is the one we create,” an intriguing line for a trailer introducing a film steeped in legal controversies. The movie, titled Rust, will be released in the U.S. on May 2.
