On April 15, the Early Access version of Dragonwilds in RuneScape was introduced, and initial indications suggest that it has potential longevity, even amidst intense rivalry.
In a pre-release interview with TopMob, Executive Producer Jesse America disclosed that the creation of a spinoff for Jagex’s two MMOs, RuneScape 3 and Old School RuneScape, commenced in the year 2021.
From now until 2025, a significant number of survival games have made their way onto Steam, which is Valve’s platform, with one of the most successful being Valheim. Surprisingly, it gained popularity without much pre-release promotion, suggesting that Dragonwilds has established its value and seems likely to remain a permanent fixture.

On April 29th, Jagex’s youngest game broke daily player records previously held by Valheim and Ark: Survival Evolved on Steam. Although the number of simultaneous players can change frequently, it’s important to mention that on April 20th, this newcomer in the gaming genre surpassed the live, concurrent player count of both titles as recorded by SteamDB.

This growth will be fueled not only by regular players but also influential streamers with vast audiences. Given that gaming personalities like Shroud, Asmongold, and Aztecross have all expressed favorable initial reactions, it’s no surprise that Dragonwilds, much like its namesake, is currently soaring high.
