RuneScape creator’s new MMO Brighter Shores delayed for hilarious reason

As a dedicated fan who has been following Andrew Gower’s journey since the golden days of RuneScape, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for his latest creation, Brighter Shores. The delay by just a single day might seem insignificant to some, but as a seasoned player who has waited years for this moment, even the tiniest postponement feels like an eternity.

Andrei Gower, the inventor of popular online game RuneScape and co-owner of Jagex Limited, has shared that the release of his upcoming MMO, Brighter Shores, will experience a minor postponement – just for one additional day.

Luckily for concerned fans, the slight postponement isn’t due to any production troubles. On the contrary, the game is being released a day late for political purposes, as American citizens cast their votes on Election Day.

On Twitter/X, Gower announced that the game’s Early Access release has been shifted from November 5 to November 6, aiming to prevent any clash with the Presidential election.

As a gamer, I’ve got some exciting news! Due to unforeseen circumstances, we’ve gotta hold off on releasing Brighter Shores until November 6th. Seems like there’s an election happening on the 5th – can you believe it? Can’t wait for you all to dive in once it’s out!

Although Gower’s team operates from the UK, they are eager to mimic the triumphs of their initial venture, RuneScape, which garnered a massive following across the Atlantic. At this initial stage, it seems promising that it possesses the necessary elements to achieve the same success.

As a gamer, I can tell you that this game maintains its unique, unrivaled style from before. It’s packed with activities I’m familiar with like Woodcutting, Cooking, Fishing, and Mining. However, it feels like there’s a whole lot of fresh tech powering the game engine, and Gower has gone into great depth explaining how they’ve developed this masterpiece.

The creation of a unique game engine started as far back as 2010, followed by the commencement of work on Brighter Shores in 2016. This work was kept under wraps until March 2024 when the public was finally informed about the game. As a result, players now have a relatively short timeframe to wait before they can play it.

The beta testing phase for Brighter Shores starts on October 22, and the Early Access release follows on November 6. The duration of this testing isn’t specified yet, but the developers have assured us that any progress made during this time won’t be wiped at the end, meaning players can carry their efforts forward when the game officially launches.
