As a huge horror fan, I’ve been loving how strong the genre has been lately – it just keeps delivering! We’ve seen some fantastic returns to classic franchises, like Scream, which you can stream on Paramount+. And it’s not stopping there – Scream 7 is on the way, and I’m especially excited about the news that Sidney Prescott’s daughter, Tatum, will be a part of it. It’s really cool to see Rose McGowan react positively to her character getting a nice nod in the new film, too.
As a huge Scream fan, I’m so excited about Scream 7, even though they’re keeping most details under wraps – that’s just how this franchise rolls! The biggest news for me is Neve Campbell returning as Sidney Prescott. It sounds like the movie is really going to center around her family, and they’ve even named Sidney’s daughter Tatum – a sweet nod to my favorite character from the original film! I recently heard Rose McGowan talk about that name choice in an interview with ScreamObsessed, and she had some interesting things to say…
Hearing Sidney named her baby Tatum has brought so much joy, and I know many others feel the same. It just feels like the perfect name – it truly suits her. Long live Tatum!
I completely agree. As a big fan of Scream, I thought the reference to Rose McGowan was a nice way to acknowledge the fans and fit into the story. It’s not the first time Tatum has been mentioned in the newer films—we actually saw her ashes in Dewey’s house in the 2022 movie. Even though McGowan was only in one Scream film, her character has clearly left a lasting impact.

You can stream the Scream movies on Paramount+, which costs as little as $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year. Paramount+ offers different plans, including an Essential plan for $7.99 a month and an ad-free Premium plan for $12.99 a month, giving you options to fit your preferences. See the deal here.
The initial trailer for Scream 7 really grabbed the attention of horror fans, particularly longtime followers of the series. The story appears to center around Sidney and her daughter Tatum, with Tatum needing to learn self-defense skills. I’m also eager to see how the film might acknowledge Rose McGowan’s character.

The next Scream movie is being directed by Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original from 1996, so it’s expected to have strong ties to the first film. Interestingly, several characters who died in previous movies are rumored to make an appearance, including Dewey Riley (David Arquette), Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard), and Roman Bridger (Scott Foley). There’s even speculation about a possible cameo from Rose McGowan. It seems like anything could happen!
The recent Scream movies have brought back Billy Loomis as a ghostly figure, and it’ll be really interesting to see how other deceased characters from the past appear in the next film. Will they show up as ghosts, in flashbacks, or in some completely new way? I’m excited to see what they come up with!
You’ll find out everything about Scream 7 when it comes to theaters on February 27th, 2026. With the release date just a few months away, we’re hoping to see some trailers and learn more details soon.
