Rosamund Pike Says She Was Asked to ‘Unzip and Drop’ Her Dress and ‘Just Stand There in Underwear’ During Bond Girl Audition: ‘I Won’t Be Doing That’

Rosamund Pike says her audition for “Die Another Day” almost went too far.

During a chat with Harper’s Bazaar UK, the actress who portrayed Miranda Frost in the 2002 Bond movie, Pike, revealed that she was requested to remove her outer garments and wear only her undergarments during the audition process for the film.

During the audition for Bond, I was told to undo my dress and stand there in my underwear. I remember thinking, “No, I’ll do that if I land the role. But not right now.” It’s hard to explain what made me make that decision.

At my audition for Bond, they asked me to undress down to my undergarments. In that moment, I decided, “I’ll strip down if I get the part, but not today.” I can’t quite put my finger on why I made that choice.

Despite their differences, Pike ended up co-starring with Pierce Brosnan in “Die Another Day.” In this film, Pike’s character Miranda Frost, a Harvard graduate and Olympic fencer, posed as an undercover MI6 member, later unmasked as a double agent. In the movie’s thrilling conclusion, she was ultimately defeated by another well-known Bond girl, Jinx Johnson, portrayed by Halle Berry.

During a different conversation with David Tennant on his “David Tennant Does a Podcast With,” she reminisced about an embarrassing instance that occurred during the filming of an intimate scene alongside Brosnan.

In our embrace, followed by a separation, I found myself observing the adhesive bandage and nipple protectors which were quite furry,” Pike reminisced. “At that moment, it struck me, ‘Oh my goodness, I’m supposed to be waxing Pierce’s chest.’

She went on to say, “I was utterly embarrassed. I thought to myself, ‘Wow, he’s so courageous, and I’m ripping out his body hair with each hug.’ Naturally, it wasn’t him.
