Rosa Salazar will no longer lead CBS‘ “Einstein” alongside Matthew Gray Gubler.
The news arrives approximately a week since CBS approved the drama series, and shortly following their decision to move it from the 2025-2026 TV season to the subsequent 2026-2027 season. According to our sources, Salazar asked for her contract to be terminated when she found out about the production delay, and both parties consented to her request.
Title character, Lewis Einstein, portrayed by Matthew Gray Gubler, is Albert Einstein’s great grandson. He leads a comfortable life as a university professor until his rebellious behavior gets him into legal trouble. As a result, he’s drafted to assist a local detective in solving her most confounding cases. Lewis is depicted as being impudent and off-course, frequently skipping classes due to the burden of his genius and renowned name.

Salazar was slated to portray Veronica “Ronni” Paris, a dedicated detective inspector for the New Jersey State Police. After the passing of her husband, she chose a career in law enforcement. Known for her keen intellect and strict discipline, Ronni pushes herself and her peers to their limits, yet grapples with feelings of unease when it comes to collaborating with professor Einstein.
The television show “Einstein” is created by Andy Breckman and directed by Randy Zisk. Alongside Tariq Jalil, Rose Hughes, Rodrigo Herrera Ibarguengoytia, and Laura Beetz, they all serve as executive producers for Seven One Studios International. CBS Studios are the ones who produce it.
The show originates from a well-received German television film in 2015, which eventually grew into a widely appreciated three-season series. In the summer of 2024, the CBS remake was commissioned for production as a pilot episode.
