Rookidee Raid: Beat It Easy With These Counters!

During the Max Monday event in Pokemon Go, the diminutive Pokemon creature called Rookidee, more famously known as Tiny Bird Pokemon, will be unveiling its Dynamax form. Therefore, to prepare for battling it, here’s a look at its vulnerabilities.

In Generation 8, Rookidee was introduced to the franchise and became part of the Galar Pokedex. Despite its unassuming appearance, it turned out to be a fan favorite in Sword & Shield, as its final form, Corviknight, proved to be an exceptional Flying/Steel-type combatant.

Soon, Rookidee will transform into its Dynamax form, making it a highly sought-after addition to many players’ teams with the Dynamax Corviknight. If you’re among those planning to capture it, here are some essential tips before taking on the blue bird in battle.

Dynamax Rookidee weaknesses in Pokemon Go

Rookidee and its Dynamax version are exclusively Flying-type Pokémon, making them vulnerable to Electric-, Ice-, and Rock-type attacks.

Although it simplifies the process of selecting a team since there are only three categories, it’s important to note that your options could be limited further because, at this point, neither Dynamax nor Gigantamax Rock-type creatures have been introduced in Niantic’s game.

Instead, it’s best to steer clear of moves belonging to Bug, Fighting, Grass, and Ground types when facing the little Rookidee, since these moves are unlikely to inflict significant damage on it.

Remember that only fellow Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon are eligible in Max Battles.

Dynamax Rookidee best counters

Regardless of their recent introduction to the game, there are several effective picks that can successfully tackle a Dynamax Rookidee.

Although Dynamax Cryogonal is a common option, having shown up frequently as a 3-Star Max Battle opponent, the most powerful alternatives are Toxtricity and Lapras when they’re in their Gigantamax states.

Remember that Gigantamax Pokemon are more powerful than their Dynamax counterparts.

Regardless of which of the six Pokémon from the list you choose, each one can exploit Rookidee’s vulnerabilities without triggering any of its resistances.

How to get Rookidee in Pokemon Go

As of today, there are a few ways trainers can get a Rookidee in Pokemon Go:

  • As a wild encounter
  • As a 1-Star Max Battle boss (increased spawns during its time as the May 26 Max Monday headliner)

In the past, I, as a fellow enthusiast, have been fortunate to obtain the standard Rookidee either from 2km Eggs or as a prize for completing Special or Timed Research missions.

Beginning on May 19, 2025, it will not be necessary for players to visit a Power Spot in person because they can participate in Max Battles from a distance by utilizing Remote Raid Passes.

To engage in Dynamax Rookidee’s battle, players need to spend 250 Max Particles. You can gather these by visiting Power Spots every day. In case you don’t manage to defeat the Max Battle boss during your attempt, the spent Max Particles will be returned to you, allowing another try.

As a fan, it’s crucial to mention that these extraordinary beings can’t be captured when they’re in their colossal forms. However, upon overcoming Dynamax Rookidee, trainers get an opportunity to attempt catching a typical Rookidee, equipped with the Dynamax ability!

How to evolve Rookidee into Corvisquire and Corviknight

In Rookidee’s family of three, it needs a fair quantity of Candy to register each variant within its Pokedex. Fortunately, the procedure is simple and straightforward because there are no additional requirements or necessary items involved.

To make Rookidee change into Corvisquire, players should provide it with 25 pieces of Candy. In order for Corvisquire to turn into Corviknight, trainers must offer an additional 100 pieces of Candy.

Rookidee Candy

During Max Battles’ tenure as the main event on Mondays, players could seize the opportunity to face off against Rookidee and collect Candies by engaging in these battles.

To speed up the process, employ Pinap Berries to boost the candy yield per capture, and afterwards, trade the excess Rookidee with Professor Willow for a few extra items.

Besides using it as a companion on walks, they can also swap Pokemon as their buddy. Additionally, they could trade some scarce sweets for extra Rookidee treats instead.

Dynamax Rookidee CP in Pokemon Go

Just as regular Raid Bosses, when you successfully capture Dynamax Rookidee following its defeat in a Max battle, its Combat Power (CP) won’t remain the same. Additionally, specific weather conditions may boost its CP.

Can Dynamax Rookidee be Shiny?

In Pokemon Go, the Rookidee Dynamax form isn’t available as a Shiny variant yet. Typically, when a new Pokemon is introduced to the game, it doesn’t initially come with its Shiny form. Instead, Niantic usually reserves the Shiny version for a future special event.

Generally speaking, Shiny versions of a Pokémon usually appear a year after their initial releases. Given that Rookidee made its debut during the Steeled Resolve event in January 2025, fans can expect to encounter Shiny Rookidee around 2026.

After the transformation, trainers can effortlessly identify Shiny Rookidee due to its distinctive color shift; its typical blue plumage turns into radiant gold, while its yellow breast transforms into a soft gray.

After my beloved Shiny Rookidee evolves, I’ll find myself in awe as both my Shiny Corvisquire and Shiny Corviknight transform, sporting new shades of grey that give the impression of being forged from steel.
