Roku Head of Content David Eilenberg Exits to Return to ITV America

David Eilenberg, Roku’s head of content, is leaving his position at the technology firm to rejoin his previous employer, ITV America.

Following his return, Eilenberg will assume the position of Creative Director at ITV America, a new role for him. In this capacity, he’ll be responsible for guiding the creative direction of ITV America, a company where he previously held the position of Chief Creative Officer from 2018 to 2022. He left in 2022 to lead the Originals department at Roku and was subsequently promoted to Head of Content.

Eilenberg is now responsible for leading the creative development of all unscripted programming at ITV America, which encompasses formats like documentaries, competitions, and more. Additionally, he will be in charge of ITV’s branding and digital content strategies. He will report directly to David George, CEO of ITV America, while collaborating closely with Adam Sher, president of ITV America, and Danielle Bibbo, the chief business officer.

ITV America explains that this move is part of a broader, updated creative plan for the company. By merging its separate production labels and teams into a unified development group, they are transitioning from a multi-genre, multi-label approach to a singular vision centered on generating “larger, superior” concepts that align with the changing market trends.

George remarked, “David returns with a trove of tech wisdom and client comprehension at a data-centric level that will aid us in unraveling a complex market. He’s an integral component to ITV America’s recipe: he knows what’s effective, what’s upcoming, and most crucially, he knows how to enjoy the process. With Adam’s talent for generating and enhancing opportunities, and Danielle’s business acumen, we’re recreating our team. I’m as thrilled as when Rage Against the Machine reunited.

Eilenberg expressed: “I’m filled with pride for being associated with Roku’s success, particularly its role in doubling the size of The Roku Channel, which has now emerged as the fastest-growing streaming service. Simultaneously, I’m brimming with excitement to rejoin ITV, with its top-tier teams, and the creative environment that resonates deeply with me. The pace of change in this new world is astounding, and I can hardly contain my anticipation to contribute to the creation of the next wave of popular television, digital, and branded content.

Deadline was first to report the news that Eilenberg had left Roku to return to ITV America.
