A robot resembling a human, built by a Chinese company, recently broke the world record by walking 62 miles without any help or breaks.
By the end of 2025, technology had advanced to the point where things once imagined only in science fiction were now reality. Self-driving cars from Waymo were widely available, Elon Musk’s Neuralink allowed paralyzed individuals to regain independence by feeding themselves, and AI had become integral to most jobs.
Humanoid robots are becoming more available, and several companies are now selling models designed to assist people with daily chores – at a cost similar to that of a used car.
Although still under development, a company’s two-legged robot has recently reached a significant breakthrough – and it’s getting a lot of attention online. The robot learned by watching videos of real people doing everyday tasks, filmed in special facilities.

Humanoid robot sets Guinness World Record
This November, a robot built by the Shanghai company Agibot Innovation broke the world record for the longest distance walked unassisted, covering 106.286 kilometers (62.1371 miles).
Between April and May 2025, the Agibot A2 was improved to prevent it from falling while moving. On August 17th, it successfully completed a 24-hour walking test in 104°F heat, which was streamed live online.
This commercially available model stands 1.75 meters tall (around 5 feet 7 inches) and weighs 55 kilograms (121 pounds). It uses artificial intelligence and a variety of sensors to process what it hears, sees, and reads. It finds its way around using GPS, lidar, and infrared cameras to map its surroundings.

In November 2025, Agibot Innovation tested their durable new robot to determine how far it could travel on its own.
Between November 10th and 13th, a robot successfully traveled from Suzhou to Shanghai. It navigated typical city challenges along the way, including crossing streets, dealing with traffic, and avoiding obstacles like potholes.
This is the first time a humanoid robot has completed such a long journey on its own. The robot and its creators, Agibot Innovation, received a Guinness World Record for the accomplishment. After the journey, the robot described it as a “memorable experience” in a press conference, and even joked about needing new shoes!
Robots are increasingly sophisticated, largely due to advances in artificial intelligence. This has led to a new practice in creative industries like game development: employers now often ask potential hires to demonstrate their artistic abilities live, ensuring the work they submit isn’t created by AI.
