‘Robocop’ TV Series at Amazon Sets Peter Ocko as Showrunner, James Wan to Produce

As a cinephile with decades of movie-watching under my belt, I must say that the news about the “Robocop” TV series development at Amazon has me both intrigued and excited! With Peter Ocko on board as writer, executive producer, and showrunner, and James Wan executive producing under his Atomic Monster banner, it seems we are in for a treat.

The “Robocop” TV series in development at Amazon is starting to take shape.

It’s been revealed that Peter Ocko will be joining the team for this project, taking on roles as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner. Furthermore, it’s been announced that James Wan will also be involved as an executive producer, working under his Atomic Monster label.

The series is officially described as follows: “A powerful technology corporation teams up with the city’s law enforcement agency to create an advanced enforcer – a unique police officer that’s both human and machine, aiming to tackle the increasing crime rate.

In addition to Ocko and Wan, Michael Clear and Rob Hackett from Atomic Monster will serve as executive producers. Danielle Bozzone is managing the project at Atomic Monster. The series is being created by Amazon MGM Studios.

The “Robocop” franchise has been in the initial phases of production since Amazon took over MGM Studios. Amazon is aiming to leverage MGM’s extensive intellectual property catalog for both movies and TV shows. Additionally, Amazon is working on a prequel series for the “Legally Blonde” franchise, as MGM was involved in producing the original film. Furthermore, a new “Poltergeist” project has appointed its executive producers.

The “Robocop” series began in 1987 with the debut of the first “Robocop” movie featuring Peter Weller portraying the title character, a part man, part machine police officer. Weller reprised his role in the sequel, while Robert Burke took over for “Robocop 3” in 1993. Nancy Allen played Officer Anne Lewis throughout all three films. A remake starring Joel Kinnaman was launched in 2014. To date, there have been various TV shows based on “Robocop”, both animated and live-action, as well as video games and comic books.

Throughout his professional journey, Ocko has penned scripts for numerous TV shows such as “Dinosaurs,” “Dead Like Me,” “Pushing Daisies,” “Black Sails,” “The Office,” and “Lodge 49.” Notably, he is the mind behind the latest AMC series, “Moonhaven.

Ocoko is represented by Jackoway Austen Tyerman and Management Group, while One is represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA), Stacey Testro International, and the firm of Myman Greenspan Fox.
