Robert Pattinson ‘Can’t Watch Horror Movies Anymore,’ Fell Asleep With Knives After One Scared Him: ‘I Kept Thinking Someone Was Breaking In’

In a GQ video interview with the director of “Mickey 17,” Robert Pattinson shared that as an adult, he’s grown too sensitive to horror films. A recent project required him to watch a horror movie before meeting with a director, which left him so frightened of potential burglaries that he started sleeping with knives for protection.

When I was younger, I used to enjoy watching a lot of intense, dark films and find them appealing. Now, however, I’ve become more sensitive and can no longer handle such content. It’s ironic because one would expect that as you grow older, you’d develop a greater tolerance for these types of films. Unfortunately, I can’t watch horror movies any longer.

Bong Joon Ho proposed the idea that Robert Pattinson’s recent reluctance towards horror films could be due to him becoming a father. In March 2024, Pattinson welcomed his first child with actress Suki Waterhouse. However, Pattinson clarified to his director that his apprehension regarding horror movies actually occurred before he became a parent.

Pattinson admitted he was extremely scared not too long ago. He had a meeting with a director who made a horror film, and after watching it, he became convinced someone was burglarizing his home. So, he sat on his sofa with two kitchen knives, ready for an intruder. Eventually, he dozed off with the knives almost touching his neck on the couch. He suspects it might have just been a squirrel.

Robert Pattinson did not disclose the title or director of the horror movie he’s working on, but there are suggestions it could be Parker Finn’s “Smile” since they are collaborating for a remake of Andrzej Zulawski’s classic horror film “Possession.” Finn is directing the remake, and Pattinson is producing it through his production company, Icki Eneo Arlo. It remains undecided whether Pattinson will feature in the remake himself. Paramount Pictures is financing the project.
