According to Robert Kirkman, the upcoming Invincible live-action film is currently underway in production, but don’t expect it on the big screen right away.
Even though Invincible might be one of the most outstanding superhero television series ever made, its initial concept wasn’t intended for a TV show. Instead, a movie adaptation was first announced in 2017, with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (who later produced The Boys) slated to write, direct, and produce it.
Never before has it been this trendy; merchandise is swiftly disappearing from online stores, and the Invincible comic books are either selling quickly or seeing a surge in their prices. Given all that hype, I’m curious to know about the upcoming movie.
An Invincible movie will happen “one day” says Robert Kirkman
Regarding the movie adaptation, Kirkman wasn’t very talkative. He noted that the TV series simplifies some aspects while complicating others in the process of creating the film.
I’m afraid that’s as far as I can go for now… It’s still a work in progress. Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes to fruition someday.
The Excellent TV Series “Invincible” is so captivating that it’s hard not to be intimidated by the thought of making a movie; how does one surpass a show that’s already garnered such love during its early stages? How can you manage the budget for the film adaptation when animation isn’t as limiting in this case?
From a passionate fan’s perspective, I’m curious about one challenge we might face when bringing back Omni-Man and Invincible: both characters have had iconic performances by their voice actors. So, how do we recast them in a way that does justice to their original portrayals?
In 2024, Kirkman informed The Direct that the project is “still being worked on” and emphasized that the film “needs to be flawless.
He elaborated, “It’s requiring quite a bit of effort and patience, similar to fitting all the puzzle pieces together perfectly and ensuring everything functions smoothly before we can present it at its best. In other words, this project has been under construction for some time now, and it seems like it will continue to be so for a while longer.
You can also keep tabs on the show’s soundtrack and find other shows like Invincible to watch next.
In addition, we had a chat with Robert Kirkman, who clarified the reasons behind Spawn’s absence during the Invincible War and the potential delay in producing a Rex Splode special. Moreover, he shared some recent developments regarding the Invincible video game.
