Ripple has broadened its reach in the United Arab Emirates by adding two new allies, Zand Bank and the fintech company Mamo, to its team. These partners will utilize Ripple’s blockchain technology for facilitating cross-border transactions.
The announcement came through a press release on May 19th, after Ripple had made efforts to expand its presence in the Middle East. In March of 2025, Ripple secured full licensing approval from the Dubai Financial Services Authority, making it the first blockchain-based payment company allowed to operate within the Dubai International Financial Center.
Zand Bank and Mamo have decided to adopt Ripple Payments, a system that links a worldwide network of payout partners and employs blockchain technology and digital assets to provide quicker, more affordable, and transparent international money transfers. This partnership indicates the increasing traction in this region for blockchain-based payment solutions, especially as conventional financial institutions and fintechs aim to enhance efficiency and speed up settlement times.
The pace at which Ripple Payments is gaining traction in the UAE is accelerating.
With our DFSA license now secured, Zand Bank and MamoPay have officially launched their services on Ripple Payments, offering real-time, blockchain-based cross-border transactions to one of the world’s most significant remittance centers.

Speaking about their new DFSA license, Reece Merrick, Ripple’s Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, stated that they can now handle payments from start to finish in the UAE, allowing for swift global money transfers at any time of day with almost immediate settlement. The collaborations with Zand and Mamo underscore the high demand for efficient blockchain solutions as viable replacements for traditional payment systems.
Zand Bank, the UAE’s pioneering fully digital bank that holds a banking license, announced that its partnership aims to deliver top-tier blockchain solutions and digital asset services in line with their objectives. To enhance the swiftness of both local and cross-border transactions, they also disclosed intentions to launch a stablecoin, which will be pegged to the UAE Dirham (AED).
For Mamo, a fintech company centered on consumers, this agreement aligns with its goal to streamline international payments for businesses and individuals based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Imad Gharazeddine, CEO of Mamo, emphasized that Ripple’s blockchain-driven settlement solutions will empower UAE businesses to expand globally with assurance.
As a crypto investor, I’m excited about Ripple’s current growth, which aligns with their broader strategic initiatives across regions. The company is actively engaging with UAE regulators to shape stablecoin policies and integrate blockchain technology into the nation’s financial infrastructure. Furthermore, we are gearing up for the upcoming Abu Dhabi launch of Hidden Road, a crypto brokerage that Ripple recently acquired for approximately $1.25 billion in April.
Through handling transactions worth $70 billion using Ripple Payments and securing more than 60 regulatory approvals worldwide, the company is solidifying its position as a significant provider of blockchain-based financial infrastructure, not just in the Middle East but globally. According to Ripple’s surveys, over 60% of finance leaders in the MEA region consider faster settlement as a primary reason for embracing blockchain technology in payment systems.
