Ripple Execs Go Ghibli with AI Artistry!

Well, if you ain’t seen the latest craze, you’re in for a treat. Ripple‘s top dogs have jumped on the bandwagon of folks creating Ghibli-style anime portraits, all thanks to the magic of OpenAI’s latest image generation model, fueled by the mighty GPT-4o. I reckon if Mark Twain were here, he’d be tickled pink to see how far we’ve come.

Am I doing this right?

This here model is a wonder, capable of taking on a whole heap of artistic styles and even throwing in some fancy text in images, something the old models couldn’t quite manage. It’s like having an artist and a typewriter in one machine!

Social media is abuzz with folks cranking out images in the style of Studio Ghibli, the legendary Japanese animation studio behind such masterpieces as “Spirited Away” and “Princess Mononoke.” It’s a sight to behold, I tell you.

Today is a great internet day

Even OpenAI’s top brass, Sam Altman, has gotten in on the fun, updating his profile picture on X. It’s like the whole world’s gone Ghibli-crazy! 🎨✨

However, there’s a bit of a hitch. This new model has stirred up a hornet’s nest of copyright infringement concerns. You see, it’s likely been trained on countless frames from Ghibli’s films, which ain’t exactly sitting well with everyone. Hayao Miyazaki, the legendary Japanese animator who co-founded Studio Ghibli, has made it pretty clear he’s not a fan of this AI nonsense. He’s even gone on record saying he’s “utterly disgusted” with it and would never incorporate such technology into his work. So, it’s a fair bet that Miyazaki isn’t clapping his hands over this new trend. 😂
