The Stranger reveal in the season finale was a satisfying payoff for fans who have been theorizing about his identity for years. While some purists may grumble about Gandalf’s early appearance in the Second Age, I find it intriguing to witness the character’s evolution in this prequel series.

In this episode, The Stranger encounters Tom Bombadil at his hut and Bombadil tells him: “A wizard doesn’t choose his staff; it chooses him, like his name.” To which The Stranger replies, “Isn’t that going to be my name – Gandalf?

Indeed, it has been revealed that after much debate among fans over the years, The Stranger is indeed Gandalf. This new revelation promises an intriguing direction for the storyline moving forward.

It seems not every fan of Tolkien was thrilled with the revelation, as they noted that Gandalf didn’t arrive in Middle-earth until the Third Age, while the television series is set during the Second Age instead.

Although an official renewal for Season 3 of “The Rings of Power” hasn’t been announced yet, there’s a strong likelihood that it will be, given that the creators have already planned out five seasons in detail, right up to the last scene.
