At the unanticipated visit to the Cannes Film Festival, Rihanna graced the red carpet at the Palais, showing up to cheer on her companion A$AP Rocky during the debut of “Highest 2 Lowest.
Rihanna, a singer and entrepreneur, chose a sky-blue gown for her appearance alongside Rocky, who features with Denzel Washington in Spike Lee’s most recent movie. At the Met Gala back in May, she announced that she is expecting their third child together. The couple are already proud parents to two sons – RZA, aged 3, and Riot, who is 20 months old.
In a feature article published by EbMaster for Cannes, Rocky spoke about his power couple status with Rihanna, who has just released a new song for the forthcoming “Smurfs” film where she portrays Smurfette. “We have movies coming out in the same year,” Rocky pointed out, seemingly unaware of this fact before. “I didn’t realize that! What a coincidence! Let’s send our congratulations to us; we’ve been busy working hard!
Under the direction of Spike Lee, the movie titled “Highest 2 Lowest” is a contemporary adaptation of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 film “High and Low,” now transposed to present-day New York City. In this remake, Denzel Washington plays a powerful figure in the music industry, while Rocky assumes the role of Yung Felon, a determined rapper who will go to great lengths to realize his dream. The star-studded cast also includes Ilfenesh Hadera, Jeffrey Wright, Ice Spice (making her film debut), Dean Winters, John Douglas Thompson, LaChanze, Aubrey Joseph, Michael Potts and Wendell Pierce.
Recently, Rihanna stood by Rocky during his court trial for felony shooting charges in Los Angeles. The incident occurred outside the W Hotel in Hollywood in 2021, which led to two assault accusations against him. Following a three-week long trial, Rocky was declared not guilty on all charges. Overjoyed, he rushed over to embrace Rihanna, his mother, Renee Black, and his sister Erika Mayers.
