Ridley Scott Is Already Writing Gladiator 3

As a die-hard fan of epic historical dramas, I can hardly contain my excitement for Ridley Scott‘s return to the world of Gladiator! The news that Paul Mescal will be stepping into the sandals of Lucius Verus has me eagerly anticipating the cinematic journey that lies ahead.

In the coming month, director Ridley Scott plans to return to the universe of one of his most successful films, Gladiator. For Gladiator 2, Paul Mescal will be stepping into the shoes previously worn by Lucius Verus, a character who survived from the original movie. Instead of waiting another 24 years for the next installment, Scott has already commenced writing Gladiator 3.

During an exclusive chat with Premiere, Scott gave us a few clues about the ending of Gladiator 2, which is intended to pave the way for future events in the third movie.

Scott remarked, ‘I’ve set things in motion,'” suggests a rephrasing. “The finale of Gladiator 2 bears similarities to The Godfather, as Michael Corleone finds himself in a position he never sought, pondering, ‘What do I do now, Father?’ Thus, the upcoming [film] will focus on a character who is unwillingly in his current predicament.

It seems quite possible that Lucius could not just endure his fights in the arena, but potentially ascend to rule over the Roman Empire. However, only time will tell what becomes of him when Gladiator 2 premieres in theaters on November 22.
