Rex Splode blasts his way into Invincible VS as next playable character

Unbeatable VS’s lineup is about to experience a dynamic change with the arrival of its new playable character, Rex Splode. Here’s what we currently know.

In June 2025, it was officially unveiled that the highly acclaimed comic-to-animation adaptation, Invincible, had its main cast of seven characters publicly revealed: Mark Grayson (Invincible), Atom Eve, Bulletproof, Omni-Man, Lucen, Rex Splode, and Thula.

At first, just four of them were displayed in gameplay previews; however, the explosive moveset of Rex Splode has at last been unveiled.

Rex Splode joins Invincible VS

According to a video from Quarter Up on July 14, Rex Splode is set to become the newest fighter in Invincible VS’s lineup. In the comics, Rex possesses an extraordinary power: anything he touches can explode, be it man-made objects or living beings (such as villains).

In the matchup between Invincible and Rex Splode, it signifies that he can launch destructive missiles to maintain a safe distance from opponents, providing opportunities for powerful damage sequences and strategic variations.

Apart from the standard uses, players have additional strategies at hand. They can postpone Rex’s explosives to create traps against their rivals, or detonate them immediately to serve as combos extenders or pressure-building devices.

In the comics, Rex is a character in Invincible VS who has a knack for maintaining distance from other characters, making him a “zoner.” This means he excels at keeping opponents at bay with long-range attacks. Adding Rex to a team could help balance things between aggressive fighters like Mark and Bulletproof, for instance.

In “Invincible,” a fast-paced, 3-on-3 tag team fighting game, mastering multiple characters is essential. If you enjoy strategizing and controlling the flow of battles, then the character Rex Splode could be an ideal choice for you.

At this point, we’re still not clear on which characters will appear in Invincible VS. In our recent conversation with the development team, they too were uncertain about the final lineup! With such a vast array of characters to choose from, it’s anyone’s guess who might join the game next.
