In Invincible Season 3, the bond between Rex and Shrinking Rae has emerged as a surprising yet delightful turn of events. However, if you’re familiar with the comics, you might want to brace yourself, as significant spoilers are coming up…
Reflect on the second season of Invincible. As Mark, Eve, and many of the Guardians ventured off into space to deal with the Sequids, Rex remained on Earth alongside Shrinking Rae and Dupli-Kate.
The Lizard League launched an attack on them, with the Komodo Dragon apparently killing Kate and her duplicates followed by devouring Rae. King Lizard shot Rex in the head during this assault. Remarkably, they all managed to survive; Rex and Rae had extensive hospital stays for recovery, while it was discovered that Kate had a hidden backup many miles distant.
After that point, Rex and Rae’s relationship has been blossoming. In the fifth episode, they shared a meal together, and in the sixth, their bond deepens. However, I must warn you – there could be some potentially revealing information ahead. If you prefer not to know it, now would be the ideal time to stop reading!
Rex could die in Invincible Season 3 Episode 7
In simple terms, Episode 7 of Season 3 in the series “Invincible” is expected to be based on the “Invincible War” storyline from the comics. This significant event portrays Angstrom Levy summoning numerous malevolent Marks from various dimensions to attack the main universe, causing widespread death and damage, thereby tarnishing his reputation.
Such a catastrophe and bloodshed as you could possibly envision has unfolded, with all superheroes banding together in an attempt to halt the destruction. Entire metropolises lie in ruins and countless innocent people perish.
Additionally, there have been severe losses – among them, Rex. This scene leaves one speechless as he instructs the Robot to escape with Amanda, warning that if they don’t, he might endanger everyone. He advises them to go ahead while he handles the situation himself. It seems this is the only viable solution.
In a different phrasing, the Invincible version seizes Rex by the throat and cautions him that his action was pointless… I’m about to decapitate him and then depart to eliminate each of the three.

Invincible Season 3 Episode 4 will include a pivotal story from the comics you can’t miss
He queries, “What’s your plan against me since you’re out of options like batons, golf balls, or whatever else you had in your pockets? Your wrist launcher is empty. You seem to have no means of attacking me. So, could you explain, how do you intend to harm me? What move will you make and detonate?” he asks.
Rex responds with just two words: “It’s my skeleton.” In an instant, his body bursts into flames, destroying the Invincible variant and taking his own life for the sake of his friends. Since Rex can speed up molecular movement and store kinetic energy, his entire form has always been a weapon. He triggered the self-destruct mechanism to protect his companions.
Rae makes Rex’s fate in Invincible more complicated
The TV series “Invincible” has been highly commended for its portrayal of the character Rex. Despite his self-sacrificing actions – which can be off-putting in the comics – the show has skillfully transformed him into a more endearing and complex figure, particularly through his interactions with Rae.
In the aftermath of the Lizard League assault, Rae yearns for an ordinary existence; she desires a life where she can prepare meals and not be constantly on edge, ready to leap into action and potentially jeopardize her safety. Despite this, Rex continues to cherish his superhero role, stating that he feels insignificant without his alter ego, Rex Splode. However, he empathizes with Rae’s longing for normalcy.
On the other hand, this adds some complexity – and regardless of the outcome, there’s likely to be quite a bit of pain involved.
In the narrative, it’s important to note that Rae is no longer alive. In the original source material, she met her end at the hands of the Lizard League. However, her relationship with Rex, which we’ve come to know, has been solely crafted for the television series.
In Episode 7, several scenarios are plausible. Either Rae could perish, prompting Rex to avenge her death, or Rex might choose to die instead to protect Rae. Alternatively, the show could surprise us by taking a different direction altogether.
It’s quite improbable that both characters will emerge from the Invincible War without any harm, and Rex’s demise appears to be an inevitable part of the narrative, given its far-reaching impact on the rest of the tale (to avoid spoilers, I’ll stop here as I’ve already given too much away).
