In the development of Resident Evil series, camera angles played a significant role. The initial game and its successor employed fixed camera angles, mimicking security cameras that observed the action from an unchanging perspective. However, it was Resident Evil 4 that introduced dynamic, over-the-shoulder camera angles for the first time.

In 2005 and every subsequent rerelease, Resident Evil 4 was an enormous success. Remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3, featuring engaging third-person camera angles, were launched in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Since then, the remake of Resident Evil 2 has sold over 15 million copies, placing it as Capcom’s third highest-grossing game.
