Resident Evil Director Teases A “Different” House Of The Dead Movie, Could Start Shooting This Year

Director Zach Cregger could potentially lead the upcoming Resident Evil movie, but Paul W.S. Anderson, who has directed or produced the initial six Resident Evil films, is now focusing on reviving Sega’s House of the Dead for a new cinematic outing. According to Anderson, this new project might start filming as early as this year.

Anderson shared with Variety that the draft of the script is nearly complete. The plan is to start filming towards the end of this year, and he’s eager to take creative risks with this project. It promises to be a fresh departure for him.

Anderson mentioned his effort to replicate the atmosphere of an arcade game by immersing viewers into the narrative and allowing the storyline to unfold live, right up to the conclusion of the film.

According to Anderson, this upcoming experience will be incredibly immersive and downright terrifying. It’ll unfold in real-time, mimicking the feel of playing a video game. The action pauses only when you finish the game or perish – those are your two exit strategies.

2003 saw Uwe Boll directing the initial House of the Dead film, but the upcoming movie by Anderson will serve as a reboot, drawing inspiration from The House of the Dead 3. In this narrative, there are two principal characters: Lisa Rogan, a woman on a mission to rescue her father, and Daniel Curien, who’s connected to the man behind the zombie infestation.

Although we don’t have a set date yet, it looks like The House of the Dead 2: Remake will be released for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers (PC) in the second part of this year.
