Resident Evil 2 Gets iOS Release Date

As a seasoned gamer with memories of countless sleepless nights spent battling zombies and bioweapons in various Resident Evil titles, I must say, my excitement for the mobile release of Resident Evil 2 is palpable! The prospect of taking down hordes of undead on-the-go, with the option to seamlessly switch devices thanks to cross-progression, has me itching to revisit Raccoon City.

On December 10th, 2024, the popular game Resident Evil 2 will be available on Apple devices such as iPhone 16 models, iPhone 15 Pro versions, and all iPads and Macs equipped with M1 chip or later. This was recently confirmed by Capcom after initially only announcing its port to mobile without a specific release date. The initial listing on the App Store had shown December 31st as the release date, but this seems to have been a temporary placeholder.

In simpler terms, when you play Resident Evil 2 on iOS devices, you can continue your progress from one device to another within the iOS platform (like moving your saved game from an iPhone to an iPad). Unfortunately, there’s no way to transfer your console progress at this time. On the plus side, the mobile versions of the game offer improved controls, automatic firing options, and compatibility with controllers for a more enjoyable gaming experience.

If you’re hesitant about your purchase or simply want to test the game on iOS devices beforehand, there will be a trial version (demo) available for Resident Evil 2. The complete game is approximately 30GB in size and offers all the features and sections from its console counterpart, whereas the demo allows players a limited exploration of Raccoon City only.

With cross-progression, improved controls, and a free trial, the iOS version of Resident Evil 2 promises an easier-to-play experience for mobile gamers. This game now joins other Resident Evil titles available on mobile platforms, such as Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil 7 biohazard.
