As a lifelong fan of Alex Winter and the Bill & Ted franchise, I am beyond thrilled about his latest venture, “Adulthood”. Having grown up watching him and Keanu Reeves’ antics as our favorite time-traveling metalheads, it’s heartening to see Winter stepping into a new role behind the camera. The fact that he’s collaborating with such an eclectic cast, including Josh Gad, Kaya Scodelario, Billie Lourd, and Anthony Carrigan, only amplifies my excitement.
Republic Pictures acquires the rights for distribution in both the United States and Canada for the movie “Adulthood,” which is helmed by director Alex Winter and written by acclaimed author Michael M.B. Galvin.
In a contemporary, wittily grim setting, I find myself as one of the protagonists, Megan or Noah, barely keeping afloat in today’s America. Our lives take an unexpected twist when we stumble upon a body, hidden for years within our childhood home’s basement. This chilling discovery propels us back to the town we once fled from and into a labyrinth of crime, mystery, and murder.
Winter expressed immense enthusiasm about collaborating with Republic Pictures on the North American distribution and debut of our movie,” he stated. “Their knack for identifying excellent independent films and commitment to quality is truly commendable.
The lineup features Josh Gad from “Gutenberg! The Musical!”, Kaya Scodelario of “The Gentlemen”, Billie Lourd from “Booksmart”, Anthony Carrigan in “Barry” and Winter, famously known for the extended “Bill & Ted” series such as this year’s “Bill & Ted Face the Music”.
In the same vein, Winter also functions as a producer, collaborating with Scott Kroopf (“Limitless”), Russell Hollander (“Flight Risk”), and Lisa Wolofsky (“Tow”).
Additionally, Michael Cho and Tim Lee from Olive Hill Media, along with Danny Roberts, H.S. Naji, and Jackie Langelier from Fresh Fish Films, are also involved in its production. The film was financed by both Olive Hill Media and Fresh Fish Films.
As the executive producers, Connie Tavel (“Confess, Fletch”), Mimi Rode from Olive Hill Media, and Thorsten Schumacher of Rocket Science are taking on this role. Rocket Science is also responsible for securing financing for worldwide distribution.
Actress Saskia Scodelario is represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and Anonymous Content, while Kathryn Lourd is managed only by CAA. Dan Gad has a trio of agencies – CAA, Sugar23, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole. Carrigan is handled by CAA, Schlegel Entertainment, and Mitch Smelkinson. Lastly, Zoe Winter is under the wing of CAA, Forward Entertainment, Hollander Entertainment, and Sloss Eckhouse Dasti.
Fresh Fish Films is repped by Ryan D. Webb at Greenberg Glusker LLP.
