Rep. Eric Swalwell Executive Producing Rohit Karn Batra’s ‘The Gun on Second Street’ (EXCLUSIVE)

As a movie buff with a keen eye for political and cinematic intrigue, I find myself captivated by the unique blend of real-life experiences and Hollywood magic that is unfolding in the production of “The Gun on Second Street.”

As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve become part of the team bringing “The Gun on Second Street” to life! Congressman Eric Swalwell has graciously joined as an executive producer for this exciting project. And guess who we have on board? Rumer Willis and Tom Arnold are set to star in this movie, with more talented actors still joining the cast. The audition process continues, so stay tuned for updates!

The movie chronicles the story of two Pittsburgh police officers, who are also close friends, as they respond to a domestic disturbance on Second Street. However, what starts as a routine call tragically turns into a deadly confrontation when Officer TJ Meadows unintentionally shoots and kills his partner, Officer Kevin Cooper, with his secondary weapon. After leaving the force and struggling with the aftermath of this event, TJ eventually returns to Pittsburgh and reconnects with Kevin’s widow, Kacie.

Batra is collaborating with Guy J. Louthan from Ransom Films. Swalwell has been announced as one of the executive producers, along with Rikin Shah. It’s believed that this marks the first time a current congressman will be involved in executive producing a movie.

“Representative Swalwell, who hails from a family deeply involved in law enforcement, having a father who was a cop and brothers currently serving, shared his insights. For seven years, he worked alongside top-notch officers as an Oakland prosecutor. He understands the swiftness with which life can alter for police officers and their families in an instant. The representative is enthusiastic about ‘The Gun on Second Street’, a production that intends to shed light on the difficulties faced by police families, particularly reaching out to the general public. He looks forward to seeing this film produced and widely distributed.”

Swalwall wrote a book called “Endgame,” which examined the impeachment of Donald J. Trump. He has consulted for Spycraft Entertainment and appeared with Sean Penn on his Ukraine documentary, “Superpower.” Swalwall assisted with the production of the narrative feature, “Words of War.” Swalwell is also a frequent guest on CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News and has appeared on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” “The Daily Show,” “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” and “Real Time With Bill Maher.” He is also a creator and executive producer of the upcoming special “Cooking for Kamala,” with co-hosts Padma Lakshmi and Joel McHale, which will launch this Thursday.

Swalwell recently organized an online event called “Comics for Kamala” via Zoom to support Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign. The event included appearances by celebrities such as Jason Bateman, Jon Hamm, Kathy Griffin, and actor Tom Arnold from the show “The Gun on Second Street.”

Battra took charge, penned, and collaborated with Louthan in the production of the internationally acclaimed crime drama “Line of Descent”, which featured Academy Award-winning actor Brendan Fraser. Additionally, Battra was awarded the Jury Prize at the Palm Beach International Film Festival Awards for the Best Short Film titled “Roundabout”.
