Remedy Entertainment revealed more information about the ‘Control Resonant’ update, specifically detailing the New Game Plus mode, in a recent PlayStation Blog post.
Control Resonant will launch with New Game Plus mode already available. Remedy Entertainment’s Lead Gameplay Designer, Sergey Mohov, detailed the mode in a recent blog post, which follows up on the developer diary videos the team has been releasing. You can watch those videos here.

Control Resonant will be released this year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
You can find the Control Resonant New Game Plus details via the PlayStation Blog below:
Your initial experience with Control Resonant focuses on exploration – figuring out how the game works, customizing your character, and discovering the unique potential of your version of Dylan.
New Game Plus lets you replay the game with everything you’ve already earned, offering a fresh experience for those who want another playthrough.
Control’s New Game Plus mode lets you start the game again while keeping most of your progress. You’ll retain your character upgrades, improved health and resources, unlocked powers, talents, and collected artifacts. However, abilities that help you move around the world won’t carry over, as those are unlocked as you progress through the story.
Rebuilding your approach
New Game Plus lets players try out different character builds they might not have been able to during their first game, since you don’t unlock everything at once.
As you get further in the game, you’ll unlock improvements to your skills and special attacks, making combat more effective. New Game Plus also lets you customize your abilities even more. You can equip multiple abilities from the same boss, creating unique combinations and strategies that will change how you approach each battle.
It’s not just about becoming stronger; it’s about becoming more precise in how you play.
Customization systems working together
In Control Resonant, you can customize your character through Artifacts – items that give you passive bonuses. We haven’t fully explained these yet, but they let you tweak how your character plays. Artifacts can improve your ability to survive, fight, explore, or manage resources. Some even require you to make choices, offering benefits with potential drawbacks. Instead of just making you stronger overall, they encourage you to build a setup suited for particular challenges.
During your first time playing, you can use up to three artifacts. If you start a New Game Plus, you’ll unlock a fourth slot, letting you create even more powerful combinations.
The game features artifacts that enhance crafting. You’ll find these hidden throughout the world and can then create useful items with them in the Gap. The more artifacts you collect, the more ways you’ll have to customize your character’s abilities.
A world that pushes back
Returning to Manhattan also means facing a more demanding version of it.
As you play Control Resonant, the game world changes. Enemies get tougher, battles become more complex, and even fights you’ve already won can feel different. Bosses might learn new attacks, so you’ll need to adapt your tactics. What worked before might not work next time, forcing you to find new ways to win.
New Game Plus keeps the challenge going. You’ll start with extra abilities and understanding, but the game will also become more difficult, changing battles and increasing the risks as you progress.
It’s not simply about gaining strength; it’s about changing with a world that’s constantly evolving.
Okay, so this is where things get really interesting. The game lets you build your character in a bunch of different ways, but just picking cool stuff isn’t enough. You’ve gotta understand how all those choices actually work together if you want to win. It’s all about synergy, honestly!
Going back in
Control Resonant is designed to encourage players to come back for more, so you won’t be able to collect everything in just one playthrough.
This gives you a chance to go back and complete any World Quests, bounties, or collectibles you might have skipped. You can also experience different results in side stories and conversations.
New Game Plus lets players who enjoy the world and gameplay of Control Resonant experience even more of it.
Even on your first time playing, the game lets you explore lots of different choices and playstyles. Coming back for another playthrough lets you use what you’ve learned to try new strategies and tackle challenges with even more tools at your disposal.
We’re excited to see how players tackle the game again and what unique strategies they come up with this time around.
