The second weekend of ReMatch’s closed beta testing kicked off today, and in just a few short hours since its launch, it has become the most popular game among players on Steam. As I write this, there are more than 100,000 players taking part in the closed beta, making it the 11th most played game on the platform, according to SteamDB. Given that only a portion of those who applied for an invite were granted access, this is a remarkably high number. If you’re interested in joining the closed beta, we have a guide available to help you out.
ReMatch hits over 100 thousand players on the first day of its second closed beta weekend
In simple terms, “ReMatch” is the upcoming title from Sloclap, creators of the hit indie game Sifu in 2022. Since then, fans have affectionately dubbed it “FIFU”, a combination of Sifu and FIFA, the renowned EA soccer game series. Interestingly, one of the control schemes in “ReMatch”, which mimics FIFA’s controls, is actually called FIFU within the game itself.
Now, for those eager players, the closed beta for ReMatch starts today, April 18th, and will last through this weekend, concluding on Sunday, April 20th.
Over the past week, there’s been a surge in views for ReMatch videos and clips, following the conclusion of the initial closed beta weekend. With many eager players having missed out on the first beta, this week has seen a spike in registrations. The game itself is set to launch on June 19th, 2025, making it just around the corner. If the current level of interest continues over the coming months, Sloclap could be looking at a major success.
As an enthusiast, I’m excited to share that ReMatch is now up for pre-order! The Standard Edition is priced at $29.99, and if you’re willing to splurge an additional $10, you can grab the Pro Edition. For those who want more perks, the Elite Edition will set you back another $10, and it comes with a bonus of three days of Advanced Access.
However, be aware that some games have faced challenges with Advanced Access recently, so early access might involve a bit of risk. To make it worthwhile, there are some exclusive cosmetics included in the package. Pre-ordering the Standard Edition gives you a chance to potentially enjoy Advanced Access like some lucky Tempest Rising players did. But remember, relying on this is not advisable.
As a gamer, I’ve found myself drawn into the world of ReMatch, and it feels eerily reminiscent of Rocket League, another gaming giant. The game’s sleek design and the intense, team-based challenges have earned it quite a few nicknames, with “Rocket League without the cars” being one of them – a humorous yet accurate description. What keeps me hooked is the thrill of executing an amazing goal, a feeling that seems to be the game’s secret recipe for keeping players engaged and coming back for more.
