This week, the creators of Sifu, Sloclap, are unveiling a novel futuristic soccer game named Rematch. While it’s called football elsewhere beyond the U.S.,
As an enthusiastic supporter, I was thrilled to learn via their social media channels that Sloclap is working diligently to introduce cross-play functionality in a future update. Rest assured, they are committed to this feature and although they didn’t provide an exact timeline for its release, I trust that it will be worth the wait!
Cross-platform play among Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox won’t be implemented at the initial release, but it’s high on our list of priorities for future updates. We’ll provide an estimated timeline as soon as we can, so keep an eye out for more news! 🏆🕹️ #RematchAgain

In Rematch, the gameplay adopts a semi-arcade approach by reducing each soccer team to just five members per side. Each player takes charge of only one teammate, yet they have the option to switch allegiance and join another team, or challenge them as part of the opposing squad.
Since this game is situated 40 years ahead, it introduces significant alterations to traditional soccer rules. For instance, concepts like fouls, offsides, penalty kicks, draws, and shoot-outs are now obsolete. Moreover, the ball remains in play at all times as the entire match unfolds within an enclosure or cage. The game is filmed from a third-person perspective to show the players’ viewpoint. Besides the conventional 5v5 contests, there are also opportunities for smaller skirmishes such as 3v3 and 4v4 encounters.
In TopMob’s hands-on review, they commended Rematch for creating a gaming experience that resembles an exhilarating team sport. Starting June 19, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can test out Rematch on Xbox Series X|S directly. On the same day, PlayStation 5 and PC players will be able to purchase the game.
