Following a remarkable season that resulted in him winning the NBA MVP, NBA Finals MVP, and a championship for his Oklahoma City Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is set to achieve another milestone. The talented point guard has been selected as one of three individuals – joining WNBA sensation Angel Reese and NBA hall-of-famer Carmelo Anthony – to grace the cover of NBA 2K26 come September.
As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SGA) will grace the cover of the regular edition of NBA 2K, marking the first time an Oklahoma City player has adorned the cover since Kevin Durant graced NBA 2K15. This Thunder guard was a force to reckon with this past season, averaging close to 33 points per game in 76 matches. To add to his impressive stats, he dished out more than six assists and pulled down five rebounds per game as well. It’s no wonder that these outstanding performances earned him the coveted league MVP and scoring title honors!
In the upcoming NBA 2K26 video game, Angel Reese from the Chicago Sky team has been chosen to represent the WNBA Edition, taking over from Candace Parker who was featured on the cover of NBA 2K25. During her debut season in the WNBA, Reese earned All-Star status and consistently delivered impressive statistics, averaging 14 points and 13 rebounds per game throughout the 2024 season.
