Refreshed version of one of PC’s bloodiest games is in the works

Postal 2 Redux has been announced, which is a refreshed version of the controversial FPS from 2003.

  1. The devs plan to raise funds for development through Kickstarter. The fundraise will start in the summer (you will find the link at the end of the news).
  2. Versions for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5 are planned. However, the devs reserve that the final list of platforms will depend on the course of the fundraise and the requirements of various digital stores.

Postal 2 Redux – what’s new?

In simpler terms, Postal 2 Redux appears to offer significant updates rather than just enhancements, indicating a remake instead of a simple upgrade. The original game was built using Unreal Engine 1.5, while the upcoming version is being designed on the latest iteration of the Unity engine.

  1. Compared to the original, Postal 2 Redux will offer improved textures and a dynamic lighting system.
  2. Loading screens will also be removed during exploration.
  3. The creators plan to improve the AI of crowds so that characters move more efficiently around locations, and riots break out more frequently and are more chaotic.
  4. The weapon’s performance will be improved, and the locations will be filled with destructible objects.
  5. Moreover, our dog will finally be able to help us in the fight.
  6. We can also expect new types of weapons and improved physics.

Unfortunately, the devs haven’t yet announced when the release of Postal 2 Redux is scheduled.

The story behind the choice to revamp Postal 2 VR is quite intriguing. Lately, Studio Team Beef has unveiled their work on Postal 2 VR. During this process, they dismantled the original game from 2003 and identified numerous areas for enhancement. In collaboration with Flat2VR, they successfully persuaded Running With Scissors (the franchise proprietors) to approve a complete overhaul, resulting in Postal 2 Redux.
