Red Dead Redemption is officially coming to new platforms. Rockstar confirms and promises free upgrade

The long-standing rumors are confirmed: Rockstar Games is releasing native versions of Red Dead Redemption and its Undead Nightmare expansion for modern consoles and mobile devices. These updated versions will be available starting December 2nd and will include improvements and free content for those who already own the games.

Plus, these updated versions will feature all the original single-player content, as well as extra content previously included in the Game of the Year Edition.

For the first time, the games are available on iPhones and Android phones, designed with touch controls. And great news for Netflix members – you can play both games at no extra cost!

Rockstar Games announced that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game will feature smooth 60 frames per second gameplay, improved graphics, HDR support, and resolutions up to 4K. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will utilize the console’s new hardware to offer features like DLSS, HDR, mouse and keyboard compatibility, and high-quality, fluid animations.

If you own the game on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, or as a digital download for Xbox 360, you can get the upgraded version for current consoles at no cost. Plus, you’ll still be able to use your existing saved game data.

These new games were created with help from Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games, and will be immediately available to players with GTA+ and PlayStation Plus subscriptions.
