Affirmed boasts four distinct allies, each offering unique contributions to the battlefield. Here’s a guide on how to enlist each of them throughout the main storyline quests.

As the narrative unfolds, all four associates of Avowed are automatically enlisted in your journey without requiring any specific action from you. Each of them has unique motives for becoming part of your quest. Some join right at the beginning of the game, whereas others become available as you delve deeper into the expansive world.

At any given moment, you’ll be able to bring along just two of your companions on your journeys. The rest will stay behind at the campsite. However, even when they’re not with you, you can still build relationships with all of them. When you return to camp, each companion typically has something new to share about your current circumstances, making it feel like their presence is always with you in spirit.

Here’s every companion in order and when you’ll recruit them:

Kai

As a seasoned warrior, I’m as tough as they come, but beneath my battle-hardened exterior lies a heart full of kindness. You’ll have me by your side before long once we set foot in Dawnshore. Together, we’ll embark on our initial mission to track down the ambassador.

Kai performs this task as he too must reach out to that group, and believes a high-ranking emissary might benefit from a protector. Yet, it’s quickly discovered that you are capable of self-reliance.

After coming back to Paradis, circumstances will unfold such that Kai continues to stand by your side as a reliable guide, due to his faith in your mission. Notably, Kai frequently acts as a beacon of rationality in the world of Avowed and finds solace in your righteous choices.

Marius

Marius used to be Kai’s buddy, and he considers himself the top tracker within the Living Lands. While he may be bragging, there’s truth to his claim since Marius possesses exceptional skills in wilderness survival and is an adept archer with a bow.

He’ll be part of your team during the initial stages of the first main quests in the hub world, which is quite early on in the journey. To get him on board, you’ll have to intervene in a bar brawl between him and some rowdy patrons. But if you prefer, you can just watch the situation unfold.

Marius initially harbors a great deal of suspicion towards others, frequently uses sarcasm, and is quick to disregard opinions. However, he eventually developes respect and admiration for the Envoy. In fact, he tends to approve of actions that are more ruthless, practical, and less forgiving, often engaging in debates with Kai about moral issues.

Giatta

Giatta is an animancer, using a form of magic that’s been made illegal by the Empire. She’ll team up with you once you’ve progressed to the game’s main hub world and finished the quest titled “The Animancy Method”.

Giatta will show up at the party once you return to Fior during the winter season. At that point, you’ll have to choose two out of your three comrades for the journey, leaving one behind at the campsite.

In battles, she functions as a supportive spellcaster, focusing on healing and boosting her team. However, it’s crucial to protect her during intense fights since she primarily serves as a useful ally rather than a fighter in her own right. Nevertheless, she can handle most common adversaries on her own.

She’ll swiftly form strong connections with Kai and Marius, as well as her teammates, and will even lend a hand in repairing the division that currently separates them.

Yatzli

In the captivating world of Avowed, I stumbled upon Yatzli shortly after setting foot at the Emerald Stair. At first, she didn’t join my party, but our paths aligned again during the quest titled “A Path to the Garden”. As I prepared to embark on a journey towards Shatterscarp, Yatzli decided to accompany me.

She’s long been acquainted with Giatta, making her a perfect fit for the upcoming party. Yet, her persistent quest for elusive and ancient knowledge may cause friction not only with Marius but also Kai. Nevertheless, as events progress, she’ll grow closer to each of them in their shared adventure.

While Yatzli might come off as charming and flirtatious to some players, leading them to consider her as a potential romantic character, this is actually not the case. In truth, she is an exceptionally skilled sorceress who possesses the ability to cast magic upon adversaries from a distance. If you manage to protect her from enemy attacks, Yatzli proves to be a formidable ally in battle.
