Recent Killing Floor 3 Play Test Required A 5-Year NDA, Despite Game Releasing In A Few Days

Players eager for the cooperative horror shooter Killing Floor 3 are feeling somewhat anxious about the game’s state before its release on July 24, as they were asked to sign a five-year confidentiality agreement just over a week prior to launch in order to take part in a play test.

The stress test took place over two, 2-hour periods on Sunday, and players could join using Steam. However, some were surprised by the terms of a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) that was needed to participate. According to a Reddit post, this NDA not only prohibited players from capturing screenshots or recording gameplay of Tripwire Interactive’s upcoming shooter, but also prevented them from discussing the test for a period of five years.

In other words, although it’s common for Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) during early game testing, it took players by surprise when one was required even for a game launching just a few days later. Some speculate that the five-year timeframe in the NDA might have been a legal term carried over from older playtests, but this doesn’t necessarily instill trust among the players.

Initially planned for release on March 25th this year, Killing Floor 3 experienced a slight delay in its launch, happening just weeks before the scheduled date. The need for an extensive NDA prior to a playtest so close to the launch has raised concerns among fans about potential further delays. However, in a blog post discussing the stress test, Tripwire assured that they have been concentrating on optimizations and implementing player feedback to ensure a quality game is delivered to fans on July 24th.

According to Tripwire, this test aims to guarantee a smooth and stable multiplayer experience for both our team and partners when the game launches.

Tripwire has shared details about their post-release strategies for Killing Floor 3, featuring upgraded character animations, a flexible perk selection system for players, and integration of text messaging functionality.

In the game Killing Floor 3, up to six players can team up for cooperative play, and this feature even works across different platforms. During a preliminary review, we commented that the game makes a strong first impression and appears to be an excellent choice for cooperative gaming. However, it remains to be seen if it can maintain its appeal in the long run.
