Rebecca Ferguson Joins ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ Cast

As a film enthusiast with a penchant for versatile performances and a soft spot for enchanting fantasies, I am thrilled to see Rebecca Ferguson stepping into the magical world of “The Magic Faraway Tree.” Her ability to embody complex characters, as evidenced in her roles in “Dune,” “Mission: Impossible,” and the upcoming “Peaky Blinders” movie, makes her an ideal choice for the terrifying yet intriguing Dame Snap.

Actress Rebecca Ferguson will star in the film adaptation of “The Magic Faraway Tree,” penned by Enid Blyton, produced by Neal Street Productions, Elysian Film Group, and Ashland Hill Media Finance.

The movie, inspired by Blyton’s cherished “The Faraway Tree” collection, chronicles the Thompson family’s journey into the English countryside where they stumble upon a magical tree. This enchanting tree’s inhabitants whisk visitors away to far-off lands, paving the way for a string of fanciful journeys. Ferguson is set to portray Dame Snap, the fearsome character of the headmistress in this tale. The script was penned by Simon Farnaby, known for his work on “Wonka” and “Paddington 2”.

As a diehard cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be joining an extraordinary ensemble for an upcoming fantasy adventure movie. Alongside me, you’ll see Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy, Nicola Coughlan, Nonso Anozie, Jessica Gunning, Dustin Demri Jones, Mark Heap, Oliver Chris, Lenny Henry, Simon Russell Beale, Michael Palin, Jennifer Saunders, Hiran Abeysekera, and Pippa Bennett-Warner. Delilah Bennett-Cardy, Billie Gadsdon, and Phoenix Laroche, who are making their film debuts, will portray the Thompson children in this exciting project.

In 2024, Ferguson’s acting lineup consists of appearing alongside Cillian Murphy in the “Peaky Blinders” film, working with Chris Pratt in the movie “Mercy,” and being part of Kathryn Bigelow’s forthcoming project. The second season of her Apple series “Silo,” where she both stars and produces, is scheduled to debut on November 15.

Director Ben Gregor remarked: “Rebecca radiates a powerful on-screen charisma, being among the most talented actors of her time, and she’ll bring a captivating energy to our film.”

The production team comprises Pippa Harris and Nicolas Brown from Neal Street Productions, Danny Perkins of Elysian Film Group, and Jane Hooks. Ashland Hill Media Finance takes on the entire financing of the movie, while Palisades Park Pictures manages global sales. Additionally, CAA Media Finance collaborates in representing U.S. distribution rights alongside them.

Ferguson is represented by Chalcot Square, CAA and Anonymous Content.
