‘Reacher’ Season 4’s Release Window Will Be a Shorter Wait for Fans

If you’re a fan of the Reacher series, you’re used to this pattern: a new season comes out, you watch it all quickly, and then you’re left waiting—and waiting—for more. The first season was released in February 2022, followed by Season 2 in December 2023, and Season 3 in February 2025. There was almost two years between the first and second seasons, and a little over a year between the second and third. Considering how popular the show is on Amazon Prime Video, these long waits can be frustrating.

Alan Ritchson, who plays Reacher, shared some exciting news while promoting his movie War Machine: Season 4 is scheduled to arrive in 2026. If everything stays on track, that’s great news for fans of the show.

‘Reacher’ Season 4 Is Confirmed for a 2026 Release

Speaking to Collider, Ritchson revealed:

We’ve completed filming Season 4 of Reacher, and it’s shaping up to be the best season so far! You can expect it to be released later this year.

Filming finished in November 2025, meaning Season 4 is expected to be released in the middle or late part of 2026. This is a relatively quick turnaround – only about a year and a half after the Season 3 finale – and the fastest the show has produced a new season, except for Season 2 which was delayed due to strikes.

The lengthy wait for Season 2 of Reacher was due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that significantly impacted Hollywood in 2023. Although filming began in September 2022, the season didn’t premiere until December 2023. As Maria Sten, who plays Neagley, explained, the delays were caused by unforeseen industry-wide issues, and were unavoidable.

Look, the wait between seasons of Reacher is always a little tough, and Season 3’s delay, though not as long as before, was still annoying. When they announced the Neagley spin-off, I figured that would push Season 4 back even further. It actually makes sense, though – Neagley finished filming in June 2025, only five months before Reacher Season 4 wrapped, and they share a lot of the same crew, plus Alan Ritchson even appears in the spin-off! So now we’re in a situation where either Neagley is getting delayed until 2027, or Prime Video is really going for it and giving us two Reacher-verse shows in a single year. I’m honestly not sure which way it’ll go, but I’m cautiously optimistic!

Releasing Season 4 of Reacher by 2026 is really important. The first season was made and released in just 10 months, showing the show can be produced quickly when things go smoothly. We’re back on track now, but while fans will tolerate a delay or two, repeatedly making them wait years between seasons will cause even the most loyal viewers to lose interest.

What To Expect From ‘Reacher’ Season 4

Prime Video

Season 4 of Reacher is based on Lee Child’s novel Gone Tomorrow. The season begins with Reacher noticing a woman on the New York City subway late at night who seems to fit the description of someone planning a suicide attack. When he tries to offer help, she shoots herself, and Reacher feels responsible, leading him to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.

Susan Mark, a Pentagon employee, disappeared from Washington, D.C., before she died. Jack Reacher joins forces with NYPD detective Theresa Lee and Susan’s brother, Jake, to investigate a conspiracy surrounding Congressman John Sansom and his hidden connections to the Soviet-Afghan War. Their investigation soon focuses on Lila and Svetlana Hoth, who pretend to be a Ukrainian mother and daughter but are actually dangerous criminals responsible for multiple murders and involved in a larger plot.

Many fans consider Gone Tomorrow a standout in the Reacher series, and its opening scene in the subway is particularly captivating, making it one of the show’s strongest starts. This season differs from earlier ones focused on revenge; instead, it’s fueled by Reacher’s sense of responsibility and his determination to solve a puzzle.

Jack Reacher’s fourth season is packed with action, boasting around 30 fight scenes in just eight episodes – more than ever before. The series seems to have found its stride, and with 30 novels in the book series, there’s plenty of material for future storylines. If Prime Video can maintain this level of quality and output, Reacher could become an annual highlight for fans.
