Rapper Jeezy to Make Acting Debut in Drama ‘Trap City’ and Executive Produce Soundtrack (EXCLUSIVE)

As a long-time follower of hip-hop culture and a devotee of cinema, I must say that the upcoming film “Trap City” has piqued my interest significantly. The fact that Jeezy, a rapper whose music has soundtracked many moments in my life, is making his acting debut in this movie adds an exciting layer to it.

Jeezy will be starring in his initial leading role for the first time on the big screen in the movie “Trap City,” which will be released in cinemas across the country starting December 13.

Under the guidance of Tel K. Ganesan, “Trap City” is a production where Brandon T. Jackson portrays Deshawn, an ambitious musician grappling with the challenges of the music world as he strives to break free from a violent past. Jeezy assumes the role of Reverend Lylee, and other notable actors in this production include Clifton Powell, Erica Pinkett, Omar Gooding, Yogi Babu, GV Prakash Kumar, Nepoleon Duraisamy, and Tarina Patel.

Alongside his role in the film, Jeezy will also function as the executive producer for its accompanying soundtrack, both set to debut simultaneously with the movie. The rapper contributes a track titled “Heavy,” which is produced by Cartier Fly, while Lil Reese offers up two songs – “Just Vibin” and “Clocks.” Additionally, Jackson will also be featured on the soundtrack.

According to Jeezy, ‘Trap City’ provides insight into the true aspects of fame, power, and the compromises one must make to conquer hardships. He believes this movie will strongly connect with viewers due to its compelling storyline.

In collaboration with Kyyba Films and Anchored Lens Productions, we’re excited to announce the release of ‘Trap City.’ As described by Ganesan, this film serves as a reflection of our society’s fascination with fame and power. It artfully portrays the complexities of modern life, illuminating how power can either elevate or destroy the human spirit.

A year after parting ways with Def Jam, a label that had been like home to him for almost two decades, Jeezy is now venturing into acting. In September 2023, he also unveiled his independent double album titled “I Might Forgive… But I Don’t Forget.” More recently, in June, he made an appearance on the remix version of JT’s popular track “Okay.
