A fresh “Rambo” movie is being developed, but here’s the twist: it will be a prequel. This implies that the character John Rambo will be played by a new actor as the story aims to delve into the character’s origins, focusing on his early life before the occurrences of the 1982 movie “First Blood”, which marked the beginning of the successful action series.

A new prequel titled “John Rambo” is set to be presented at the Cannes market, produced by Millennium Media – the studio behind hit franchises like “Has Fallen“, “Hitman’s Bodyguard“, and “Expendables“. Fans of the genre might be thrilled to know that Jalmari Helander, renowned for directing “Sisu” – a critically acclaimed action movie – will helm this prequel. Filming is scheduled to commence in Thailand during October.

The upcoming “John Rambo” prequel was penned by writers Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, who also worked on “Black Adam”. Although specifics about the plot are still under wraps, it’s been labeled as an “origin story”, delving into the life of a young John Rambo during the Vietnam War. At present, casting is in its initial phase, implying that no new actor has been selected to portray the next iteration of Rambo. Notably, Sylvester Stallone has played the volatile character in every installment of the film franchise thus far.

At this moment, Stallone isn’t directly participating in the prequel production; however, it seems the producers are considering him for future involvement. The details aren’t clear yet whether he might work behind the scenes or appear on screen as a new character. The movie is currently being produced by Kevin King-Templeton, Les Wldon, Jonathan Yunger, and Avi Lerner. Trevor Short, Dallas Sonnier, and Amanda Presmyk are serving as executive producers.
