As a follower of comedy, I can confidently say that Ralph Barbosa is quickly becoming one of my favorites. His journey from bombing at his first open mic night to becoming a breakout star is truly inspiring. It just goes to show you that even the shyest attention hogs can find success in the world of stand-up comedy.
Ralph Barbosa has set his second stand-up special at Hulu.
The comedian, who describes himself as “one of the most reserved attention-seekers in comedy,” gained widespread recognition in 2023 following the debut of his Netflix special titled “Cowabunga.” During its opening week, it reached No. 3 on the streaming platform’s television rankings.
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the upcoming comedy hour that’s set to debut as part of Hulu’s fresh stand-up project, Hularious. Once it’s ready, you’ll be able to stream it from the comfort of your home on Hulu within the US, and internationally on Disney+. However, they haven’t revealed the exact release date or title just yet!
Known as one of EbMaster’s “10 Comics to Watch for 2024,” comedian Ralph Barbosa is currently traveling across North American theaters with his tour, titled “Ralph Barbosa, The Super Cool Ass Tour.” He has made appearances on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and delivered stand-up performances for Comedy Central. In November 2022, he headlined in the HBO Max comedy special “Entre Nos: The Winners 3,” and his Don’t Tell Comedy set has garnered over 6 million views on YouTube.
Barbosa began his comedy career following a suggestion from a community college instructor to try out at a mic night in Dallas. “That first performance was a disaster, so I decided to improve,” he shared with EbMaster this year. “However, it’s only been recently that I feel I’ve truly discovered my unique voice.
Starting November 22nd, Hilarious will offer stand-up performances by comedians such as Bill Burr, Chris Distefano, Jim Gaffigan, Ilana Glazer, Jessica Kirson, Matteo Lane, Sebastian Maniscalco, Atsuko Okatsuka, Andrew Santino and Roy Wood Jr. Additionally, Hulu will acquire previously released comedy specials from 800 Pound Gorilla, Comedy Dynamics and Don’t Tell Comedy as part of the program.
