Today marks a significant milestone for Rainbow Six Siege, as its biggest and most transformative update since the game’s launch ten years ago has been released! Best of all, this update is available free of charge across all gaming platforms.
The latest update, Siege X, offers a revamped onboarding process to assist novice players in getting accustomed to the game. Additionally, it boasts enhanced graphics and sound design, as well as novel destructible elements like gas pipes and fire extinguishers. Furthermore, the Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank, and Kafe maps undergo a “modernization” with upgraded lighting, shadows, and resolution in this update. Ubisoft intends to carry out these “modernization” updates for three 5v5 maps with each new season that follows.
Additionally, Siege X introduces a new game mode called Dual Front 6v6, where players face off in a respawn battle to conquer enemy territories. This mode is exclusive to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC systems.
Additionally, the game gains enhanced protection against cheating with the arrival of R6 ShieldGuard, a comprehensive method designed to combat unethical practices.
In a straightforward manner, Rainbow Six Siege, along with its latest update Siege X, is accessible without charge. However, certain features such as extra operators and Ranked playlists require payment. Alternatively, players can opt for the Elite edition ($20) or Ultimate edition ($40), which grant access to additional content.
With the latest seasonal overhaul, Operation Daybreak, comes a significant upgrade – a remaster for the operator Clash. Her CCE shield can now be strategically positioned instead of being attached to her. In addition to this revamp, Operation Daybreak brings about adjustments in balance, such as electricity no longer causing damage and a decrease in limb damage. Furthermore, operators like Jackal, Sledge, Thunderbird, Jäger, and Blackbeard have all undergone balance changes too.
Initially released back in 2015, Rainbow Six Siege has continued to grow and improve thanks to regular updates throughout its lifespan. The game had already amassed a player base of 85 million before the launch of the Siege X expansion.
