As an avid gamer with over three decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the Alabaster Dawn trailer has left me thoroughly intrigued and excited! The gritty, post-apocalyptic setting, combined with the unique blend of fantasy and sci-fi elements, is a breath of fresh air in today’s gaming landscape.
The game development company, Radical Fish Games, known for the creation of 2018’s hit game CrossCode, has unveiled their latest project titled Alabaster Dawn. This is an action-RPG with a 2.5D pixel-art style and is scheduled for release on Steam Early Access in the year 2025.
Previously named ‘Project Terra’, Alabaster Dawn stars protagonist Juno, tasked with rescuing a world transformed into a barren wasteland. Currently, it’s exclusively planned for PC release; however, a console launch is anticipated in the future. Despite being built on HTML5, the game’s underlying code has been revised from CrossCode (see below details), aiming to make console adaptations smoother and avoid delays like those experienced with CrossCode ports.

Description
Alabaster Dawn is an Action Role-Playing Game that takes inspiration from Radical Fish Games’ earlier game, CrossCode. It boasts a complex battle system, tricky brain teasers, and a captivating narrative set in a world shrouded in enigma, brimming with hidden truths. The ominous shadow of Nyx has descended, transforming the land into a desolate wasteland while erasing gods and their followers. In this predicament, Juno, the Rejected Chosen One, stirs to a seemingly impossible mission: restoration.
History
Work on the game titled “Alabaster Dawn,” which was previously known as “Project Terra,” commenced following the release of the last CrossCode DLC (A New Home). Initially, this project focused on writing a new engine similar to CrossCode but using WebGL for 3D graphics. To facilitate console ports more easily, we’ve decided to rewrite the entire CrossCode codebase from JavaScript to TypeScript. The process of prototyping and creating a robust foundation took several years before we settled on the name “Alabaster Dawn.”
