Rachel Zegler claps back at Disney Snow White hate in new interview

As a seasoned gamer who has witnessed the evolution of gaming communities, I find Rachel Zegler‘s resilience and determination truly inspiring. It reminds me of those epic quests where we face numerous obstacles but keep pushing forward to reach our goal.

In a recent statement, Rachel Zegler, the actress playing Snow White in Disney’s live-action adaptation, has voiced her opposition to the negative comments and clarified her stance on the matter.

Initially, when Zegler was chosen to play the Disney Princess, she faced a similar wave of criticism that Disney experienced upon casting Halle Bailey as The Little Mermaid.

However, the situation peaked last year when an interview clip from 2022 emerged featuring Zegler discussing alterations in Disney’s live-action Snow White remake. In this interview, she explained that the story wouldn’t adhere to its original 1937 setting and that the princess would not be rescued by a prince.

Afterward, a flood of harsh criticism ensued, ranging from dredging up past disputes, selectively shared misleading footage, and even calls to avoid watching her films.

Despite appearing to quiet down, the negativity persisted following the release of the trailer, garnering a staggering twelve times more disapprovals compared to approvals when it was unveiled a month ago.

In response to a query about the matter during an interview with Variety, Zegler expressed, “To be truthful, it disheartened me that it was perceived in such a manner, as I firmly hold the view that women are capable of achieving anything. However, I also strongly believe they can accomplish anything and everything.

She clarified that the segments were misrepresented, and assured us that the romantic aspect would indeed be present in the live-action adaptation of Snow White; however, it’s important to note that romance won’t be her sole purpose or objective.

She emphatically stated that she would never imply such limitations: “It’s incorrect to suggest that if you desire love, you must abandon your career, or conversely, that if you wish to work, you cannot have a family. Such assertions have never held truth.

“It can be very upsetting when things get taken out of context or jokes don’t land. The love story is very integral.

Many individuals thought we had abandoned that storyline – truth be told, we’ve always been working on it, but we simply didn’t discuss it on that particular occasion.

Despite finding the backlash disheartening, Zegler made it clear that she wasn’t taken aback by it. “I’ve seen women face criticism throughout my entire life and career,” she added on.

In the upcoming election, we’ll get to see what unfolds. I have concerns that this could be a prolonged event. At times, it may seem as though we’re moving backward; I definitely got that feeling during those moments.

Instead of stepping away from social media during its peak criticism, the celebrity opted not to give their critics the satisfaction of victory by continuing to post.

She noted, “I dislike letting them feel they’ve wounded me, so I keep quiet about it.” In essence, “stepping away from social media reduces their influence over you.
