‘Queer Eye’s’ Bobby Berk, Dana Abraham, Nazanin Mandi, Shaun Majumder Set for Cricket Comedy ‘Strikers’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Red Hill Creative is ready to enter the game with “Strikers,” a fresh comedy series revolving around cricket, featuring “Queer Eye” star Bobby Berk and creator-actor Dana Abraham. The six-part, half-hour show is scheduled for filming in summer 2025.

As a passionate cinephile, I’d rephrase it this way:

I, a die-hard movie fan, am captivated by the indie film that narrates my journey as Amar Farooqi, formerly a star MLB pitcher who met an abrupt end to my career due to an injury. The twist in my fate leads me back to my roots, the cricket field of my South Asian heritage. When AJ Joshi, heir to a steel empire, and his talented niece Maya, a savvy publicist, recruit me to revive their underperforming cricket team, the Steel City Strikers, I discover an unforeseen opportunity for sports redemption. Mickey, my struggling yet well-connected manager, becomes my guiding light through this unexpected second act in the world of sports.

For Abraham, who plays a dual role as both star and co-creator alongside Berk, the project serves as a personal odyssey for him. “As a child of immigrants in Canada, I gravitated towards assimilation and drifted away from my South Asian heritage,” Abraham admits. “This project allows me to reconnect with my roots while shaping a narrative that resonates with a broader audience yet remains intensely intimate.

Berk, who additionally handles executive production tasks, underscores the series’ central messages: “Our show is all about discovering shared territory – it’s about appreciating the strength in unity, regardless of one’s origins.

Red Hill Creative is choosing to independently create the initial season in a unique approach, with the goal of preserving creative freedom and ensuring that the series makes its debut before cricket’s Olympic introduction at the Los Angeles Games. Tony Williams (“Neon Lights”) will collaborate with Abraham as a producer, while Berk, Silvera, Majumder, and Danny Treibatch complete the team of executive producers.

The executive producer, Jacob Silvera, highlights the opportune moment and allure of the project, stating that “there’s been an increasing demand for independently produced TV shows. Our project, ‘Strikers’, is particularly noteworthy due to its significant global licensing possibilities and wide-ranging audience attraction.

The project should be completed by summer 2026. Further updates about joining crew members, distribution strategies, and release dates will be announced soon.

This project represents a substantial achievement for Red Hill Creative, formerly known as Red Hill Entertainment, which was established by Abraham and Qamar Qureshi in 2020. The business, having undergone a recent rebranding and relocation to both Hamilton, Ontario, and Los Angeles, has previously created features such as “She Came Back,” “Neon Lights,” and “A Hundred Lies.” The new moniker honors the Red Hill Creek in Hamilton while reflecting Abraham’s commitment to elevating underheard voices within the entertainment industry.
