As a seasoned cinephile with over three decades of immersion in the cinematic universe, this latest development has filled me with an unprecedented sense of excitement and anticipation. The acquisition of Picture Motion by Publicis Media U.S. is more than just a merger; it’s a symphony of storytelling, activism, and commerce coming together in harmonious crescendo.
Publicis Media U.S. recently purchased Picture Motion, a firm specializing in social advocacy and cause marketing for various films, TV shows, news programs, and media productions such as “American Fiction,” “Origin,” “Creed III,” “Fire of Love,” “Free Solo” and “The Problem with Jon Stewart.” The specifics of the deal, including its cost, have not been made public. Negotiations between the two companies began approximately a year ago.
Picture Motion will be a part of the specialized entertainment sector, known as Publicis Media Content & Innovation (PMCI). In this role, Picture Motion will contribute to the creation of unique movie and TV productions, working alongside brand clients and industry partners in the entertainment field. They will offer services such as idea generation, strategic planning, distribution, monetization, and promotional assistance. As part of the agreement, eight staff members from Picture Motion will become part of the company.
Picture Motion is set to collaborate intimately with PMCI’s Inclusion Investment Fund, a resource that assists in discovering and financing content that boosts underrepresented perspectives. Publicis Media announced that Picture Motion’s clients will have the opportunity to delve into potential integrations within existing content and partner with creators to produce fresh material.

In their role, Picture Motion has been involved in assignments for a diverse range of esteemed clients such as Apple, Disney, Hulu, CNN, HBO, National Geographic, Warner Brothers Discovery, Springhill Company, Hello Sunshine, Patagonia, Qualtrics, Global Fund for Women, and PBS. They’ve also worked on productions like “LFG” on HBO, “13th” on Netflix, and “Till” from Universal.

Picture Motion CEO Brian Walker will join Publicis Media, reporting into Levin, as Picture Motion CEO. Co-founder Christie Marchese will join Publicis Media as EVP of entertainment partnerships, also reporting into Levin, while maintaining other roles outside the company including as CEO of distribution service Kinema.
According to Marchese, Picture Motion will carry on with its current operations, catering to entertainment clients by delivering compelling narratives meant to captivate audiences.
