PS5 System Update Out Now, Doesn’t Do Much

This week, it’s not a groundbreaking development, as rain falls and winds blow. However, the latest system update for the PlayStation 5 has been released, which Sony has confirmed. The version number is 25.05-11.60.00, and it’s now active on PS5 consoles. As with most firmware updates, you can expect some additional stability to be added.

“We’ve improved system software performance and stability,” the very brief patch notes read.

In my enthusiasm as a PS5 enthusiast, I’d like to share that the latest system update incorporated a minor stability enhancement, following the significant patch at Version: 25.03-11.20.00. This update introduced an audio focus feature, aimed at enhancing accessibility by making subtle game sounds and voice chats easier to discern. Furthermore, it resurrected the home screen themes, reminiscent of different PlayStation eras, adding a touch of nostalgia to my gaming experience.

In other updates about PlayStation, the upcoming first-party game for the console, Ghost of Yotei, took center stage during a recent State of Play broadcast. The event offered glimpses into numerous new details and ample gameplay footage of the forthcoming samurai sandbox, along with unveiling exclusive PS5 consoles designed around it. Interestingly, this year has witnessed a growing trend on PlayStation 5 systems, as many of the most-played games released for the console haven’t just been developed by Sony, but also by its competitor, Microsoft.

Previously exclusive Xbox games have been making their way to PlayStation 5 at a frequent rate, after initial timed exclusivity on PC and Xbox Series X|S. The next title bound for the PlayStation platform is Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, which will be released towards the end of 2025.
